Joan of Arc was from the city of Orléans France about 100 kilometers south of Paris. This Statue was almost completely destroyed in World War Two during the allied bombings. However, thanks to contributions from the City of New Orleans in the United States it has been completely restored. The people of Orléans have always supported their sister city as well and help with their generosity after the Katrina hurricane.
