Newly Discovered DOD Behind The Scenes Photographs #5

I was recently searching my archives for a project I am working on and found some images from Zombie Nights that have never been published. I will not publish a new version of the book but will publish low resolution images here for fans and eventually high resolution versions on my commercial sites for purchase.

A lot of these images were not published because I don’t think they are very good. I probably never published this one because it is not framed properly. I am posting them all on my blog because there seems to be an appetite by fans to see all these images.

I especially like the look on George’s face and the side eye from Katherine.

Zombie French Edition Boxed Set

I recently licensed 10 of my images to be included with the new French edition of Dawn of The Dead. It was known in Europe as Zombie. The people who put together the box set included the images as separate prints that are suitable for framing or in a scrapbook. I thought this was every clever. All the images and over 40 more are included in my book, Zombie Nights: My two Nights with The Living Dead.

Time Warp: The Greatest Cult Films of All Time

In 1979 I went on one of my last photographic assignments for Pittsburgh Magzine. You can read all about it in Zombie Nights: My Two Nights with the Living Dead.
The behind the scenes images of this cult film have been well appreciated by fans of the movie, Dawn of The Dead. They are now about to get a broader audience. I have licensed some of the images to be used in the upcoming Showtime mini series, Time Warp: The Greatest Cult Films of All Times.

I have seen the teaser reel and it contains great interviews with Pam Grier, Jeff Bridges, Sean Young, Rob Zombie and hundreds of others. The episodes are finished and they are working of a distribution deal. This is one of the images they will use.

Regent Square Theater

When we returned to Pittsburgh three years ago we were excited about our new neighborhood. It was great when we left in 1978 and since returning it continues to get better in every way. We were excited that the Regent Square Theater was still here.

We went to see a couple of films and walking up to the theater was fun but inside the theater had deteriorated. Then the theater closed for a while and the whole neighborhood was sad. It was closed for a long time and we thought its absence would change our area. Then to our joy we found out that they were finding funds to refurbish it.

Last night was our first night back to The the theater. We went to see The Mads from Mystery Science Theater 3000. The Pittsburgh Filmakers had promised live events and we had great fun watching a terrible movie with the Mads. We laughed like crazy and enjoyed the improved projection system and comfortable seats. Way to go Pittsburgh Filmmakers! Thanks for giving our neighborhood our Theather back.
