My friends in Tampa Bay have a pair of Hawks that nest in their neighborhood. We used to have a nesting pair in The Poconos that migrated south each year. I wonder if it’s the same pair?

I never knew until recently that cypress trees have knees. I always thought that they were dead cypress trees but apparently they are not. Nobody really knows why they exist but harvesting them is illegal in Florida because it affects the health of the tree.

Cypress Knees
What you can’t see in this picture is the baby alligator at the other end of the log watching these three. If the aligator was a couple of years older this trio wouldn’t be sunning themseves on this log.

Tres Amigos
Years ago while visiting my mom in Palm Beach, I noticed that Florida had some strange looking ducks. Being from the northeast I was used to seeing mallards and Florida ducks to me looked like water turkeys.

The waters at Lettuce Lake Park in Tampa Florida are dark and foreboding but very clear. The dark waters make this scene a little ominous. Is an alligator lurking below or some terror from a Stephen King Book? Sometimes my imagination gets the best of me.

Leaves on Black Water
Isla Mujeres off the coast of Cancún Mexico has a wonderful sculpture garden near South Point. We stumbled on it after driving our little golf kart over the entire island.
The sculptures are located on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea and there is a gift shop and cantina overlooking the sea.
