Another Unpublished Dawn of The Dead Image

Every now and then I come across one that I haven’t published in Zombie Nights. I never published this image because Richard P. Rubinstein is in the frame. Richard is very militant about protecting his copyright and rightfully so. I am also militant about protecting mine. He tried years ago to get me not publish my images thinking I must have been an extra in the movie. I was however an invited journalist and I own the copyright of all my images including this one. Out of respect for him though, I never published or shared this image until now.

A Walk Around Regent Square

I love living in Regent Square. It is a great diverse neighborhood with beautiful homes, great neighbors and lots of dogs. We have restaurants, bars, shops, and border the largest park in Pittsburgh. Each season is great but spring is a great time for neighbors to show off their gardens. Since we have a dog we are out twice every day walking our energetic dog. Every now and then I walk without the dog to take some pictures.

Here are a few views of some of the gardens.

Unpublished Dawn of Dead Image

Every now and then I come across one that I haven’t published in Zombie Nights. I don’t know why I left this one out. It was taken in the early morning. Most of the zombies had been sitting around doing little as shots were set up. I like the expression on the face of the female zombie. Boredom, anger, exhaustion or maybe it was confusion wondering WTF I was doing?

Is Myrtle a Flower or Weed?

Vinca minor is a species of flowering plant in the dogbane family, native to central and southern Europe. It is part of the Periwinkle family and also known as Myrtle. It is a fast growing vine and loves to climb so you have to be diligent in thinning and controlling it annually. In the spring you are rewarded with a carpet of beautiful blue flowers.

Regent Square Slowly Begins Phase Green

We decided to walk down Braddock Avenue yesterday since we were on a dog vacation. Normally on a beautiful Sunday morning Braddock avenue is packed with people eating outside with their dogs and we avoid potential conflict. Most stores were still closed including the popular Square Cafe. However D’s Six Pack, our famous beer and hot dog establishment had a few tables outside as did El Burro. The Three Rivers Outdoor Company and a couple of other stores were also open for business but foot traffic was very light.

It will take time for people to feel confident and for me I will not be venturing out to any restaurants any time soon yet it felt good to see people enjoying the great weather.

Jeanie Brown Boshoven on Dawn of The Dead Set

Every now and then I come across one that I haven’t published. I know why I left this one out. It is a little out of focus and the overall contrast is degraded too much to publish. Even so I know fans would like to see it so here it is. Such a captivating woman it is clear why she is a fan favorite.

Another Day, Another Iris

We live in a small house with a small yard. That doesn’t stop us from have a lot of variety in our garden though. As a photographer I look at the garden and determine which flower is ready for their closeup. Today it was one of our Dutch Iris perennials

Time Warp Volume 2 Now Available

In 1979 I went on one of my last photographic assignments for Pittsburgh Magzine. You can read all about it in Zombie Nights: My Two Nights with the Living Dead.

I have licensed some of the images to be used in the upcoming mini series, Time Warp: The Greatest Cult Films of All Times.

Episode Two is now available on Amazon and iTunes and is totally focused on horror and science fiction movies. The first 20 minutes is mostly about George Romero and Dawn of The Dead and features interviews with Ronero, Tom Savini and most of the cast Members. Below is one of my images they use in the movie.

You can see a preview by clicking here.

Goslings in South Park

South Park is a large Allegheny County Park south of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. As a boy we lived near to the park and it was a regular site of many adventures. We went to visit yesterday specifically to see the Buffalo and escape quarantine for a few hours. Our dog was stunned by the Buffalo and could not stop barking at them. Unfortunately where they were grazing made it impossible to get a good photograph of them.

There were a fair number of Canada geese in the park and on the pond a few goslings. It was great to get out of isolation and see such a sign of hope as the cute little goslings swimming with their mom.
