It took a while to get a picture of this bird. You would think it would be easy. This is a large stork but good at putting his head in the swamp looking for food and hiding behind trees. This was taken at Lettuce a Lake in Tampa.

I am not a huge fan of southern swamps. I love the birds, the gators but like Indiana Jones can live without snakes or skinks. However I do like the dark clear waters that contain great mystery in their stillness.

There is a park in Tampa Florida called Lettuce Lake which gets it’s name from a unique vegetation that flourishes in the lake. There are many beautiful water birds including this little guy which I believe is some sort of Grebe.
