Sunset Silhouette in Mexico

A family watching the sunset over Cancún in the province of Quinatara Roo, Mexico. Every night is a little different on the blue docks of of the lagoon where people congregate to eat, drink and watch the light show. They are on an overhead walkway and the shot is taken from a bridge below.

Sunrises and sunsets are magic. Not just for photography either, there seems to be a special aura and energy that happens at this time of day. I think that sunsets on the beach or on a boat are real amazing life events. This one is from a boat on the lagoon side of Cancun.

Sunset Silhouettes

I love taking pictures at sunset. It used to be that I was happy with just the beustiful color of the sky. As I matured as a photographer I began to feel the boredom of the empty sky.

Recently I have become fascinated with silhouettes against the setting sun. The forms add texture and movement to a static skyscape. This image was captured on the docks at Las Islas in Cancun Mexico.

Sunset in Cancun

It takes a dedicated photographer to capture a sunrise. You have to get up in the dark, get yourself awake and to the location and be alert enough to remember how the camera works. Sunsets are much easier. You may not be awake each day at sunrise unless you are Ben Franklin but we are all awake for sunset every day. This sunset was taken at Las Islas Shopping Center in Cancun Mexico.

La Islas Sunset

Rancho Mirage

Every night in the Palm Desert there is a new treat. It rarely rains or is even cloudy so you are guaranteed a spectacular light show when the sun sets. The atmospheric haze provides a different view each night. If it is really windy, the sky will look much different than a still sky due to all the dust that is in the air. This night was clear and spectacular and you can see why the call the area Rancho Mirage. You can buy a print of this image on my commercial gallery by clicking here.
