On The Road Again

I will not be posting on this blog for the next five weeks. We are off on an adventure and photographic chataqua. Hopefully when I return I will have new images, videos and stories to share. Until then I wish you all well and hope you have success in surviving the hideous political barrage that has become our national discussion. I am thrilled to be leaving that behind as we leave the country.

Scenic Views Candidate #5—Pelican at Sunset

I am going to be posting images that I may have posted before with a candidate # thereby collecting a list of what I feel would be likely candidates to print for a gallery show of new images of only digital photography. Right now I am reviewing images that are scenic or from nature. This is the silhouette of a pelican over the Gulf of Mexico taken at sunset on Sunset Beach Florida.

Sunset Cruise

I always wanted to have a motor boat. One that you could cruise in at sunset across a calm bay or gulf. People have told me that a boat is like having a hole in the water that you throw your money into. Maybe I will rent one instead. This picture taken in Mexico at the blue docks in La Islas outside Cancnún,

Miscellaneous Pelicans

If you read this blog regularly you are probably saying, ok enough with the pelicans already! Well as you know I like these birds but I promise that these are the last for a while. I have been going through my images getting ready to clear the decks for our fall trip to Europe. I found these two images and thought they were too good to keep to myself. They were taken during February 2016 in Madeira Beach Florida at John’s Pass.

Reflections on a Hood

Everything looks different at sunset. I noticed the palm tree reflections in the afternoon as I walked up from the beach and thought, such a shiny car. At sunset I noticed the same car and thought, hmm I wonder if you could get a car painted like that, but of course you can.

Golden Gulf Sunset–2016

I took a lot of sunset pictures this spring when we stayed at Sunset Beach in Treasure Island. Our balcony overlooked the Gulf of Mexico so I really didn’t need to do anything but open the door to see a sunset. Each sunset image is subtly unique and colors sometimes dramatically different. This one features a backlit Pelican.

Surf’s Up!

I tried doing this a couple of times when I was young but just barely managed to kneel. I used to like body surfing and belly boarding though and remained mystified that human beings actually have enough balance to stand up on these boards and ride the waves. This young man was surfing before sunset on a Gulf of Mexico Beach near Treasure Island Florida.

Longboards at Sunset

This is another sunset view from our condo on Sunset Beach in Treasure Island Florida. It was great fun spending a whole month on the beach. It was something we had always wanted to do and we are blessed to have the time, money and health in retirement to do some of the things on our wish list. The nightly sunset views from our balcony were stupendous.

Night Fishing

We spent last February watching sunsets from a rented condo on Sunset Beach in Treasure Island Florida. We would rarely see pelicans in the Gulf of Mexico, I think due to strong winds. If we would see them it would be in early morning and usually just a solitary pelican. A short walk away on the intercostal waterway and Boca Ciega Bay we would see many of the giant birds fishing all the time. On my last night on the beach I saw this solitary pelican skimming in front of the sunset as if he came to say goodbye.

Crushing IT!

It all started with The Kids in the Hall, in the early 1990’s. The sketch comedy show started by Crushing the Heads of their bosses. The sketches were so funny they continued using faux photo perspective to crush everything. Everything is puny when you hold it between your fingers. So here is my lovely wife, crushing the sun! It looks puny and insignicicant between her fingers.
