This is part of a series of three images taken during the Black and Gold Game in Bradenton Florida last month. It was great to see the expressions change during this short discussion about a missed catch in right field. It and some other sequences that I have captured have made me think of a potential book or gallery project called “Trips”. It would be an odd size book so maybe better as a gallery installation but I am way ahead of myself. I am still editing my novel and no other book project will happen ahead of “DreamMap”

A lot of younger people play volleyball on Clearwater Beach. They all look fine in their speedos and teeny bikinis. However, some can really play. These young ladies were playing for the Eastern Regional Beach Volleyball Championship and they knew how to spike and dig!

Spring comes early in Central Florida. Flowers bloom, temperature rise and trees leaf out. However, the real harbinger of Spring is when the boys start to play baseball.
The Black and Gold game is a seven inning inter squad exhibition game. It was a little confusing because both teams wore the same uniforms. McKechnie Field in Bradenton is a cute little stadium and being so close to the action was thrilling.

For the last two months we have been living on Clearwater Beach and have only returned to Winterfell this week. We witnessed a number of events on the beach. We were there long enough to be able to identify the homeless people and have favorite waiters and waitresses. This is maybe my new standard in knowing if I have been in a place long enough to “know” it.
One of my favorite events was the Southern Regional Volleyball tournament on Clearwater Beach. This young lady has three things going for her; a killer serve, a winning smile and great form.

I have observed people do this in Maui, Cancun and Florida. This young lady made it look easy but in my heart I know it’s not and requires something I have always had in short supply. No not guts, but balance has never been my strong suit.

People have told me that Tampa is a great city but people don’t live downtown. If true, that is not apparent from walking along the Tampa river. People walking their dogs, children running like crazy in the playgrounds and teens skateboarding are just a few examples I saw while strolling along the river on a Saturday night.

Although Spring is still a month away, the first event of Spring happens next week. Pitchers and catchers will report to all MLB teams by the end of next week and the following week exhibition games begin.
Some people in northern climes look for the arrival of the Robin as the first sign of Spring but not me. Play Ball!

I watched this young lady training her puppy along the Tampa Riverwalk. She was very patient and I noticed she alternated between treating the dog and praising her dog while training him to retrieve. I have always thought that is the best way to train your dog so the dog doesn’t expect a treat each time they perform a desired action.

Naples Florida is home to a unique charity,The Shy Wolf Sanctuary(shywolfsanctuary.com). They rescue wolves that have been bred or purchased as pets and then abused or abandoned. The sanctuary is the only wolf sanctuary in the USA where you can actually interact with these beautiful wild animals. They are totally supported by donations and merchandise sales. The staff is made up completely of volunteers. Plan a trip while in south Florida for a real wildlife encounter.
If you buy a print of this image, I will donate all my profits to this wonderful organization.
