Red Blooms in February

We went to the Los Angeles Arboretum on February 14, the day before we left California. The Arboretum is located in the eastern part of the county just outside the city of Glendale. I imagine it is spectacular in any season but in February in addition to the Spring flowers we got to see succulents and cactus in bloom. This plant is some sort of aloe and I have never seen blooms like this on any succulent. The perfect tableau for Valentine’s Day.

The Crown Jewel of the Summer Garden

In Spring the highlight of the garden are the Tulips and Daffodils. In Fall Mums are my favorite showy flower. There are so many flowers in summer that offer color and beauty it is hard to pick a favorite but if I had to I would pick the Lily. The flowers are large, last a long time and come in a variety of beautiful colors. This one of the best from 2013 in a deep orange or umber color. You can buy prints of this one and see others at my commercial gallery.

Get Well

Last week my lovely bride of 41 years took a fall and got a fracture in her shoulder. She is in a sling for four to six weeks and it is a royal pain in the ass for her and a little for me. Anyhow. my daughter lives in Chicago with her great boyfriend and his parents sent my wife these flowers. They are good people, we have dined with them and visited their house and really like the whole family, but hell even I didn’t get my wife flowers! The assortment was so nice (good job local florist) I just had to share it. You can see other images from my nature collection by clicking here.

Call Me Mister Pepper

When you think of vegetables do you think of sex? I think most people would say no! However, every now and then you may come across a potato, squash or pepper that will make you wonder. I think most adults when looking at this pepper would think it is definitely a male and maybe looking for some action. You can buy a print of this hung pepper at my commercial gallery by clicking here.
