I have been working on a concept book for a while, “Just a Kiss” and collecting candid images of people kissing in public from around the world. I still need many more before it will ever become a book. This is the newest one taken two weeks ago in Cancun Mexico. I think it is a good comment on today’s narcissistic society where some people need to photograph every thing they do.
When did you first learn how to flirt? Chances are it was on Valentine’s Day. Although a manufactured holiday designed to sell greeting cards and candy, I can remember when it used to be important. As a child I would spend a long time agonizing over who received the bigger cards from my Walt Disney collection. As a young man, it was absolutely critical to not be alone on Valentine’s Day.
This picture is a study in flirting dynamics. The young man on the right is clearly with the girl next to him but seems to be trying to win over the young lady in the middle. The guy near the water needs to buy a clue.
Whatever you do have a great Valentine’s Day but don’t fall for that “Must buy candy” ploy!
This photograph was taken long before our society became scared of our own shadow. Now our government officials and media pundits constantly use fear to sell their positions. In the 1970’s there were no hand sanitizers and we didn’t know about lime disease. I can’t imagine a parent allowing their child to kiss a deer today, but back then it was no problem.
