Happy Valentine’s Day

Since today is Valentines Day, I thought it appropriate to share an image from my work in progress “Just a Kiss”. This comes form Monet’s beautiful garden in Giverny near Vernon France. Happy Valentines Day to everyone, remember to love the one your with.

A Kiss in the Water Garden

Giverny Kiss

Self Kiss

I have been working on a concept book for a while, “Just a Kiss” and collecting candid images of people kissing in public from around the world. I still need many more before it will ever become a book. This is the newest one taken two weeks ago in Cancun Mexico. I think it is a good comment on today’s narcissistic society where some people need to photograph every thing they do.

Candidate #7– Giverny Kiss

I am going to be posting images that I may have posted before with a candidate # thereby collecting a list of what I feel would be likely candidates to print for a gallery show of Photojournalism. This one was taken in Giverny outside of Vernon France. This place is so romantic, it is hard not to get cuddly. Please feel free to leave comments if you agree or disagree about including them in a “best of” list.

Candidate #6–Passionate Kiss

I am going to be posting images that I may have posted before with a candidate # thereby collecting a list of what I feel would be likely candidates to print for a gallery show of Photojournalism. This one was taken in Paris. This was the image I was capturing when young man in Candidate #5 saw me and stuck his face in my camera and laughing shouted Bienvenue a Paris! Please feel free to leave comments if you agree or disagree about including them in a “best of” list.

Candidate #3…Street Kiss

I am starting to toy with the concept of doing more exhibition photography after we relocate. During the 1970’s I worked as a photojournalist in Pittsburgh and displayed some work in museum shows including the Carnegie Museum. I stopped working in the field when I became involved in printing and publication. I retired early so I could pick up Photography again and began doing photojournalism although this time without assignments. I am looking for work that Henri Cartier-Bresson would like.

This one was taken in Paris at Sunset near the Arc de Triumph. Please feel free to leave comments if you agree or disagree about including them in a “best of” list.

Candidate #2–Prelude to a Kiss

I am starting to toy with the concept of doing more exhibition photography after we relocate. We came across this scene in lake Como Italy but the kiss never happened. The young man saw me right after I took this and they waited for us to leave before continuing their “conversation” Please feel free to leave comments if you agree or disagree about including them in a “best of” list.

Deer Kiss

This photograph was taken long before our society became scared of our own shadow. Now our government officials and media pundits constantly use fear to sell their positions. In the 1970’s there were no hand sanitizers and we didn’t know about lime disease. I can’t imagine a parent allowing their child to kiss a deer today, but back then it was no problem. Prelude to a Kiss

This photograph was taken in Como Italy a couple of years ago. It was the trigger that has caused me to look for images like this ever since to create a book of people kissing in public places. There is that moment, before two people kiss when you commit to the fact that it is inevitable. This is one of those moments.

Henri Cartier-Bresson created the concept of the the decisive moment. To capture such a moment is the essence of Photojournalism. I like to think that he would have appreciated this image. You can buy a print of this image at my commercial gallery by clicking here.
