Candidate #7– Giverny Kiss

I am going to be posting images that I may have posted before with a candidate # thereby collecting a list of what I feel would be likely candidates to print for a gallery show of Photojournalism. This one was taken in Giverny outside of Vernon France. This place is so romantic, it is hard not to get cuddly. Candidate #5–Bienvenue a Paris

I am starting to toy with the concept of doing more exhibition photography after we relocate. During the 1970’s I worked as a photojournalist in Pittsburgh and displayed some work in museum shows including the Carnegie Museum. I stopped working in the field when I became involved in printing and publication. I retired early so I could pick up Photography again and began doing photojournalism although this time without assignments. I am looking for work that Henri Cartier-Bresson would like.

The Gandy Dancer Saloon Pittsburgh

The Gandy Dancer in Pittsburgh is a premier saloon attached to The Grand Concourse Restaurant. Both are situated in the former Train Station
of the the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad (P&LE) was first chartered and in 1877 with a rail line connecting Pittsburgh to Youngstown. In 1879, the P&LE officially opened for commercial traffic and later became known as the Little Giant for the amount of tonnage that it moved. In 1976, the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation developed the site as a mixed-use historic adaptive reuse development and the train station was converted.

They serve wonderful food and cocktails in an atmosphere that takes you back to another era. The trains still run along the river and the restaurant offers a view of Pittsburgh across the Monongahela River.

Happy Father’s Day

My father died at age 65, way too young. I still miss him and think of him but don’t have any really good pictures of him. My parents had already moved to Florida when I started to become a competent photographer. However, I have a million pictures of my daughter and thanks to my wife a few of me and my daughter.

My daughter just a few weeks after birth,
