There is no place in the United States that knows how to celebrate American holidays better than New England. Since I have family there, I always spend Thanksgiving there and sometimes the 4th of July as well. A few years ago I went with my family to the Sudbury Massachusetts Independence Day parade. At The Lake
Shadow and Tilly going for a swim on a hot summer day in the Pocono Mountains. These two are best friends and both dogs are ball hawks. They also try to trick each other so they can get to the ball first. This is better entertainment than almost anything and remember anything a do g can do you can watch. Swim Fans
Currently they are dismantling the old Civic Arena in Pittsburgh. It is kind of sad for me, I saw so many great concerts there and also, of course, The Pittsburgh Penguins. I only saw Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull play once and it was at the civic arena. I remember after the warm up band, all these roadies cam out dressed in British Trench Coats and set up the equipment for Tull. It was great concert from the Thick as a Brick Tour. As a journalist on a movie set you have a license to observe and report. What I found interesting was the mood swings that are cause by events. In this image, the Director, George Romero and Director of Photography (DP) Michael Gornick were trying to figure out how to deal with the reflections from the fountain. The world’s largest skating event takes place every Friday night in Paris France, it is called Pari-Roller. Similar events occur in other european cities, but none as large as the Paris event. The skaters begin to gather at Gare Montparnasse around 9:30 and get the week’s skating route. At 10 P.M. close to 10,000 skaters have gathered and begin to skate through the city until 3 A.M. Some dress in costumes, some are part of teams and some just come to watch, like me. This guy was the best and you can buy a T-shirt by clicking here.

One thing you can never forget while traveling through Italy is that it is indeed a Catholic country. The city of Milan is covered with graffiti as I have commented in other posts but there is not a single drop of paint on any church. I really believe that that this is because graffiti artists are too respectful of their religion and gang bangers are too scared. At Prayer in Milano Italy
last year was my third visit to Paris France. I had never made it to Montmartre and was excited to see the Basilica. I wasn’t concerned about the hills, heck I am from Pittsburgh. When we exited the metro station at Abbesse we had no idea about the steps. There were no escalators but rather some large metal elevator door with hordes of people so we started up the steps when we were almost exhausted we saw a sign that said 100 more steps to the top and we looked at each other and laughed. Later after we had handled the steps and climbed almost to the top of the hill I took this image of a typical Montmartre street which you can purchase by clicking here.

Throughout France you see people playing this game in parks and at the beach. Pétanque is like Bocce but does not require a special court and can really be played anywhere. The game originated in 1907 in La Ciotat, in Provence and is uniquely French as horseshoes is uniquely American. Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria Germany is the castle that Disney models for the centerpiece of their amusement parks.
