Friday Night Fever

In 2009 while visiting Paris we attended Pari-Roller on Friday Night. Pari-Roller is the world’s largest skating event but similar events occur in other European cities. The skaters begin to gather at Gare Montparnasse around 9:30 and get the week’s skating route. At 10 P.M. close to 10,000 skaters have gathered and begin to skate through the city until 3 A.M. Some dress in costumes, some are part of teams and some just come to watch, like me.

This guy was such a good skater I made a T-Shirt out of him but it also works well as a poster. I am happy that the terrorist events in Paris have not forced an end to this tradition. Viva La France!

Friday Night Fever!

This weekend marks the mid point of the French Open. It is also Friday and time for the world’s largest skating event called Pari-Roller. Similar events occur in other european cities, but none as large as the Paris event which happens every Friday night but should be special tonight because of the French Open. This guy was the best and you can buy a T-shirt by clicking here.

Leonardo’s Horse

Horses are a popular theme in the modern cultural history of Milan. Maybe it’s because of the story of Leonardo’s horse. Leonardo’s horse is a sculpture that was commissioned of Leonardo da Vinci in 1482 by Duke of Milan but never completed. The late Charles C. Dent of Allentown, Pa. – a retired commercial airline pilot dedicated the final 17 years of his life to bring The Horse to life. While Charles C. Dent passed away in 1994 his organization continued and completed the statue in 1999. The statue stands as a symbol of goodwill between the American people and the people of Italy. I don’t know the background of this sculpture which is adjacent to Il Duomo but can’t help but think that in some way it is related to Leonardo”s Horse. You can see other imagaes for Italy and Europe on my commercial gallery.

Brera at Night

A great place to dine in Milan is in the Brera which is one of the arts districts in the City. It was not far from our hotel and i asked the Concierge if it was safe to walk and he assured me it was. We had a lovely dinner and walking back we saw this young coed walking by herself through the streets and realized it surely must be safe. You can buy a print of this one or see others on my European Gallery by clicking here.

Naked Lunch

Inspired by William S. Burroughs, I took a series of images using only a 35 MM slide projector for lighting. You can see another even more provocative image of this series by clicking here.. Trish Begley was the model and she need to hold very still and exhibit complete patience during this shoot. You can buy a print of this image at my commercial gallery by clicking here.
