A Night at The Ballpark

This year we have been to 5 Pittsburgh Pirates games and one Steelers game and the two experiences couldn’t be more different. Of course we can afford to have seats on the 100 level for the Bucs and for the Steelers we were in the 500’s near the end zone. At the Bucs game you feel you are out for a night with friends you don’t know. All age groups are represented and yes there are a few drunks and occasionally you may here a swear word.

The NFL game is totally different. People have been drinking and tailgating for hours. There are no children. There are a lot of very large men. Even the language is different. Even the restrooms are different. You feel kind of on edge at all times. Women can’t have purses or fanny packs and are forced to carry their stuff in clear plastic bags they sell outside the gates. Photographers can’t have telephoto lenses and being profane and drunk seems to be a requirement. We are going to see another Steelers game in October and we will be better prepared. My wife has her plastic bag and I will not be carrying a camera and hell yah I will swear damn it!

From last nights game at PNC Park Cubs v Pirates. Note the bartenders at McFadden’s before the game move so fast they actually blur in photos!

A-A-Ron

I love the Pittsburgh Steelers and I have been one of the fans that have been able to forgive Ben Rothlisberger and embrace him as our quarterback. Big Ben is a great team leader and statistically is every bit as good as Aaron Rodgers. However, nobody “looks” better than Aaron Rodgers throwing a football. He is the Jerry West of the NFL and his silhouette could be the logo for the NFL in the same way that West is for the NBA. This picture was taken at Heinz Field during a pre-season game last Sunday.

First Team Offense

The Steeler defense still needs some work although some players like Heywood and Shazier looked great in yesterday’s pre season game against the Packers The first team offense looked good and although it was hot, the crowd was rowdy and ready for football.

Beach Catch

More human observation. Young women strut the beach in bikinis totally aware of their image and impact they have on the males at the beach. However, young men the same age don’t have a freaking clue. This one guy looks so lost that if the other young man doesn’t catch that football it hits in in the head. This would undoubtedly be embarrassing and cause all the young ladies that he is trying to impress to giggle and laugh. Meanwhile that other dude made a great catch and held on.

Da Burg!

In honor to the great football game yesterday against our arch rivals the “Old Browns”, I wanted to honor Pittsburgh today. We moved from Cleveland to Pittsburgh when I was ten and no matter where I have lived since, Pittsburgh is my home town. We plan to move back next year and maybe actually GO to some Steelers games.
