Monet’s water garden in Giverny is located just outside of Vernon France. It is a short day trip from Paris and worth the train and bus ride. The house and gardens are unique and stunning and kept in the same way that they were during the time of Claude Monet. If you have the time it is worth spending a night since the entire area is really a tribute to nature and art. You can see other images and buy prints and apparel on my commercial gallery.

Top of the Falls
This is a view of the top of the Main Falls at Pennsylvania’s Bushkill Falls. I kind of like this perspective of the viewing area at the base of the falls from the very top. You can also appreciate the vertical challenges in dealing with the hike. You can see other images and buy prints and apparel at my commercial site.
Castle and Moat
Before visiting Holland I had seen a few Castles in France and Belgium but was always disappointed that they didn’t have moats. Any movie I ever saw that had a castle had a moat. I don’t know if this qualifies as a Castle. In Holland Castles and Palaces are called Slot. This is Slot Zuylen outside of Utrecht and it does have a moat! Amsterdam 2001
This week I have been posting images from Holland. Hinda and I visited Amsterdam in April 2001 and we both can’t wait to go back. Next time we will go in May when it is a little warmer and the tulips are in bloom. This is a view of one of the many canals. You can see more images or buy a print of this one at my commercial gallery.
Sunning on a Yacht
We were visiting Monterey California on our way to attend my cousin’s wedding in Los Angeles. We stopped in Monterrey to see the world famous aquarium and as we were walking towards the aquarium we passed the harbor and saw that the seals had taken over. Boat owners could not have possibly gotten to their boats on some of the yachts there were dozens of seals and boy do they smell like dead fish. They were all over the harbor, hundreds maybe thousands of Seals. They bark like dogs and fight and play like dogs but smell of the sea! I took this image while we watched them off the pier. Sea Dogs
My wife and I visited San Francisco and Monterrey California for our twentieth anniversary. A few years later we took our daughter there for a visit on the way to Los Angeles. We had told our daughter about all the Seals we had seen in San Francisco but of course when we got there the seals were not where we had left them six years earlier. The park official in San Francisco told us they were gone from the area and migrating to the channel islands. We were disappointed. A few days later after getting to Monterrey we were walking towards the aquarium and we smelled them before we saw them. They were all over the harbor, hundreds maybe thousands of Seals. They bark like dogs and fight and play like dogs but smell of the sea! I took this image while we watched them off the pier. You can purchase a print and see others by clicking here.
Wish I was There!
I hate the winter. I am not a winter sports enthusiast. Today I will have to put on long underwear just to be able to walk my dog in 4 degree weather. My mustache will ice up. My dog will start to whimper after a while because of the salt on the roads and the cold. I would much rather be in Maui today watching this guy doing his thing, snorkeling, swimming and watching a beautiful sunset while eating fish that was caught the same day. Sigh. Swim Pals
Shadow and Tilly are best of friends. They play until they drop on the land and in the water. Tilly is eyeing the ball but Shadow has learned to swim very well with a ball in his mouth. He knows if he should drop it the chase is on. See other scenes from my nature portfolio by clicking here.
Mirror with a Canal View
A lot of tourists miss the canal area of Milan. There are a number of clubs in the area and it is close to some less desirable areas of the city. However, the canal is also lined with antique shops and charming cafes. You can see a more scenic view of the canal and the colorful buildings that line the area in an earlier post The Canals of Milano. You can buy a print of this image by clicking here.
At The Lake
There is nothing that pleases a dog more on a hot day than being at the lake with his buds. This is Shadow, Miss B and Tilly at a Pocono mountain lake.
