Zombie French Edition Boxed Set

I recently licensed 10 of my images to be included with the new French edition of Dawn of The Dead. It was known in Europe as Zombie. The people who put together the box set included the images as separate prints that are suitable for framing or in a scrapbook. I thought this was every clever. All the images and over 40 more are included in my book, Zombie Nights: My two Nights with The Living Dead.

Spade Art

How do people conceive of this sort of artistic project? To me this is like inventing the wheel. Did this artist start as a sculptor? Was this done by hand or by some programmed cutting laser? We found these at a local antique store in Evans City during Living dead Weekend. I guess I will have to go back to find out the answers to my questions.

More from Evans City

Evans City Pennsylvania has long been the epicenter of the Zombie culture. It was here that George Romero largely photographed Night of the Living Dead which is the movie that really started the zombie phenomenon. A few years ago The Living Dead Museum moved to Evans City. The museum had previously been in Monroeville Mall. Over the last three years they have had had a free three day event which features location tours, photo ops with the stars from the films, costume and car parades and other fun events.

This year I went with friends to promote my book Zombie Nights and of course I took a few pictures. Here are a few more images from the event.

Living Dead Weekend Sale

Once a year the faithful travel to Evans City Pennsylvania for a free festival to honor the film Night of the Living Dead that was largely filmed in that area by George Romero in 1968. Zombie Nights is my story of the two nights I spent with the living dead. It is about my magazine assignment in 1978 to cover the making of George Romero’s Dawn of the Dead and includes over 40 behind the scene images. This brilliant cover design was created by Peter Johnson from The United Kingdom.

Blow Dry

After the Zombies were created, zombie master Tom Savini would give the makeup a blow dry so it would set properly. Between scenes the make up crew would roam the group of zombies and check their makeup and retouch it if necessary, You can buy a print of this image at my commercial gallery by clicking here.
