Will number 2 be Number 20?

The New York Yankees began the practice of retiring number with Lou Gehrig in 1939. To date they have retired 19 numbers but it probably won’t be too long before that number is 21. They have retired more number than any other sports team. For example the Pittsburgh Steelers have only retired one number for Ernie Stautner who wasn’t even on any of their championship teams. My question is which number gets retired first, number 42 (Mariano Rivera) or number 2 (Derrick Jeter)? Comment if you have an opinion. This is Jeter during spring training this year which will be his last season.

Touch Up on Location

There are millions of fans of Zombie Films and thanks to The Walking Dead and other movies the genre is stronger than ever. What is surprising to me is the number of fans that exist for a movie made almost 40 years ago. Not only that but the fans are passionate! I was on the location of Dawn of the Dead as a journalist for two nights and have published many of the better images on my commercial site.

However my Facebook fans keep asking me to publish all of them so I am starting that process even though most of these images have degraded in quality and were not that good to begin with. This is a picture of Jeanie Jefferies the blond beauty that doubled as an extra and make up artist on the film. She is almost as popular as the film itself. Normally I would not have published this because you can’t even see her face but this is history and besides Jeanie looks great even from the side.

Yet Another Mexican Sunset

Depending on your location in Quintana Roo you will either get beautiful sunrises or sunsets. Our condo faces the East and I am sure at 5:30 there were beautiful sunrises. However, at sunset we would travel to the docks to catch an amazing colorful end to our day. This is just an average sunset but still better than none.

Mexican Doorknob

Last December we spent a week in Mexico in Quintana Roo but it was not quite enough time. This year we are going for thirteen days and looking forward to exploring different ruins, the same beach and also Isla Mujeres. It’s not just the weather, it is the cultural difference between our countries that makes it extra fun. This is a doorknob for example.

Dog Fight

Watching seals play and fight is just like watching a dog fight. It does smell quite different though. This was captured in Monterrey California at a public pier in the mid 90’s. The seals were all over the boats and pier and that day I was glad I was not a boat owner. There were hundreds of seals, thousands of barks and groans and oh that smell!

Chicago Bound

We are headed out tomorrow to see our family in Chicago.A few years ago I constructed this piece of nonsense which was shot in Chicago but has little to do with the great city or my family. It is a little surreal which is probably why I like it. Please let me know your thoughts and I will be back with more in about a week.

Chicago Retrospective

About six years ago my Daughter moved to Chicago and made it her home. Later this year she will be married at a Chicago Landmark, The Palmer House Hotel. Of course Mom and Dad have traveled there a lot over the last six years and thus I have collected what I think are a few decent images. Later this week we will make another journey to America’s “Second City”. Here are some of the better images and most are available for purchase as prints.
