Foul Ball

I remember as a kid watching Roberto Clemente in Pittsburgh. He would exhaust pitchers. It seemed sometimes he would hit twenty foul balls in a row with that perfect graceful swing. Sure a foul ball is a strike but if you hit a lot of them, the pitcher gets tired and eventually gives up something to hit. Maybe you won’t get the hit, maybe it will be the next hitter in the order but if you keep hitting fouls one things is for sure and that is eventually the pitcher will become exhausted. He is a polarizing figure. Some people hate him just because he is a Yankee, some because he cheated on his wife and some think he is a juicer. He is also a big strong man with a perfect swing. Here he is staring down the fast ball that would be his 643rd home-run. Like him or hate him, he is a pretty good ball player. Where is My Bat?

On July 15th, my wife (a life long Yankee Fan) and I went to see our first Yankee Game in the very beautiful and expensive Yankee Stadium. $50 tickets got us seats in the third level terrace which was a nice hike on a hot and humid day. However, it was still great fun and wonderful to see the “little girl” face on my bride of 41 years. In this picture you gotta think he had a beautiful swing put where is that confounded bat? Summer Hummingbirds

Every summer we have special visitors as the hummingbirds fly up from the south to visit. They seem to love red flowers the best so we plant flowers specifically to attract them. Zombie Touch Up

The funny thing about make up is that after time and heat it starts to melt away. This can be very problematic for Zombies since there whole appearance is usually make up based. During breaks and downtime on the set of the Dawn of the Dead (1978) you wold see the make up artists roaming throw the throng of Zombies touching up the makeup as required. Seeing the Wind

As a child you learn that the wind is an invisible and powerful force. As you grow, you begin to learn how to see the wind through the movement of objects. When sand blow i your face at the beach it is the wind, when the trees rustle in the forrest it is because of wind. You can see the winds aloft by looking at clouds and ripples in the water cause by summer breezes. Wind is also the friend or enemy of fire firefighters. On a movie set there is a lot of down time, waiting time, non productive time. Producers hate this but Directors take advantage of it. While the crew was setting up and blocking a scene for Dawn of the Dead (1978), George Romero used the time to review the script and decide on his next moves.
