Ken Foree–Pencil Rendering

This is the third in a series of pencil renderings based on my behind the scene images of Dawn of The Dead taken on location for Pittsburgh Magazine in 1977. This is Ken Foree, one of the stars of the movie and still a working actor today. You can see more images form the location shooting by clicking here. .

Mexican Doorknob

Last December we spent a week in Mexico in Quintana Roo but it was not quite enough time. This year we are going for thirteen days and looking forward to exploring different ruins, the same beach and also Isla Mujeres. It’s not just the weather, it is the cultural difference between our countries that makes it extra fun. This is a doorknob for example.

Dog Fight

Watching seals play and fight is just like watching a dog fight. It does smell quite different though. This was captured in Monterrey California at a public pier in the mid 90’s. The seals were all over the boats and pier and that day I was glad I was not a boat owner. There were hundreds of seals, thousands of barks and groans and oh that smell!

Chicago Bound

We are headed out tomorrow to see our family in Chicago.A few years ago I constructed this piece of nonsense which was shot in Chicago but has little to do with the great city or my family. It is a little surreal which is probably why I like it. Please let me know your thoughts and I will be back with more in about a week.

This is a more tourist oriented video and includes some of the Architectural Boat Tour.

Chicago Retrospective

About six years ago my Daughter moved to Chicago and made it her home. Later this year she will be married at a Chicago Landmark, The Palmer House Hotel. Of course Mom and Dad have traveled there a lot over the last six years and thus I have collected what I think are a few decent images. Later this week we will make another journey to America’s “Second City”. Here are some of the better images and most are available for purchase as prints.

Two Year Blog Anniversary

WordPress sent me a message saying that today was my four year Anniversary. Technically this is correct. When I first started blogging I signed up for WordPress and Blogger. After a year and a half of sporadic blogging on Blogger I had seven followers. I realized, it just wasn’t working or worth it. After a couple of months on hiatus I decided to give WordPress another try. This was my second post in February 2012. Since then I have close to 1000 followers and average 1000 views a month. I try to post every day. Thanks to all who visit here and especially those who comment and like the posts. It is a method I use to drive attention to my commercial site but also a way to share my photography and my view of the world.

Ukraine Registers Jewish Citizens

If you follow this blog you know it is rare for me to write a political post. But when Adolph Putin invades Crimea claiming that he is protecting ethnic Russians he is using the same logic as Hitler did in the Rhineland and Sudetenland. When masked people show up at a Synagogue asking Jews to register or forfeit all their property or be thrown out of the country; they have shown the comparison to Hitler is valid. Read the full story on USA today and pray with me that we are NOT on the verge of another world war.

Happy Passover

Today is the 4th year anniversary of my wordpress blog and also the beginning of Passover. Yesterday a guy went crazy and killed people just because they were Jewish. I am not a religious man but this psychopath asked this woman if she was Jewish and when she said yes he killed her. If he had asked me I would have given the same answer.

My ancestral homeland in Ukraine is being over run by a new Russian maniac and the Ukraine is beginning to look like Hitler in the Rhineland. I am not a religious man but believe in God and thinkin’ now is a Good time lord for an intervention.

Happy Passover and Happy Easter.

Sago Palm

After being in Florida for a few months the excitement of seeing palm trees everywhere wears off. This is especially true in Tampa this year where they are literally putting Palm Trees everywhere due to the IIFA being held at Raymond James Stadium. They are trying to make the whole area look like Bollywood. However, I only saw this sort of palm in a couple of places. It is called a Sago Palm and I saw them at the Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo and this one on a walkway at Bok Towers.
