Leonardo’s Wonderful Museum

Milan is the wonderful bustling commercial center of Italy. Some call it the New York City of Italy and as you would expect from any business center it has wonderful hotels, restaurants and a rich history. It was also the home of Leonardo Da Vinci and in the center of the city is a large plain building honoring the man and his inventions. The inside is as spectacular as the outside is plain. You can see all his inventions and how the man lived in the renaissance city of Milan. This image is one small slice of the second floor housing two magnificent globes that he made and are lighted from within. You can buy a print of this image and see others at my commercial gallery.

Brera Fortune Teller

Brera is the arts district of Milan in Italy. The streets are lined with great restaurants, galleries and street vendors. At night women set up tables outside and read people’s fortunes with tarot cards and other mystical devices. This cigar smoking seer caught my eye. Millenium Park in Chicago is a wonderful park known for the Cloud Gate Sculpture or as locals call it, The Bean. Next to The Bean is a small plaza featuring two gigantic talking heads having a discussion. I have to go back at night. See other pictures from around the world at my commercial site.

We are Headed off tomorrow to see our family in Chicago. Yesterday, I was converting old videos and found this piece of nonsense which was shot in Chicago but has little to do with the great city or my family. It is a little surreal which is probably while I like it. Please let me know your thoughts and I will be back with more in about a week. Have a great Easter and Passover to everybody!

Rodeo Daze

Even though we lived in Texas for three years, I had never been to a Rodeo before. So a couple of years ago when a Rodeo came to the Poconos I went with a couple of friends. I won’t go to another Rodeo ever. I like animals too much and dislike pompous jingoistic assholes. Watch the video and let me know if you agree.

I was listening to some Quicksilver Messenger Service the other day and thought of this picture. One of the first photojournalistic images I ever took. It was taken at Music Festival at Pitt Stadium in 1973 called the One World Festival of Music. Quicksilver was sitting in the stands listening to Billy Preston when I grabbed this picture of Dino Valenti stealing a kiss. In the 1970’s I taught photography at the Ivy School of Professional Art in Pittsburgh and still I am in touch with some of my former students today thank to Facebook. Occasionally I would take a shot or two in the studio while they experimented with lighting. This is a multiple exposure done during one of those sessions. Grateful Dead Revisited

The third in a series revisiting my first posts leading up to my Blogaversery next week.
Jerry Garcia and Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead at Madison Square Garden in September 1993. This photo was taken the last time I saw the Grateful Dead and near the end of their historic run in rock and roll. I still enjoy listening to old Grateful Dead concerts occasionally but have no desire to ever see any of the cover bands. I saw the real thing and I don’t want to spoil that memory. Gaelyn Ross Revisited

Continuing with this week’s anniversary celebration of my first year of blogging, this was originally published in February 0f 2012.
I had the privilege of being a journalist on the original 1978 “Dawn of the Dead” and have offered some of the behind the scenes images for sale on my commercial site. I don’t have too many of Gaelyn Ross who was the pretty blonde star of the movie. She was hard to get to unless she was in a shot since every male extra and crew member on the set were acting like male dogs. It turns out she became a pretty good documentary filmmaker who made Killing Kasztner in 2008 among others.
