I never did get an answer as to who are these people? I took this picture years ago near Michigan Ave and the Water Tower. I have never seen them since. I don’t think they are mounted police and there wasn’t anything special going on in the city when we were there for the Print Show at McCormick place. Horses on Michigan
Most visitors think of Chicago as an ethnic melting pot. A stew of irish,Italian, hispanic,Russian,Polish and Chinese? Really? Chinese? There is a large ethnic Chinese neighborhood in Chicago located on the South Side, centered on Cermak and Wentworth Avenues, and is an example of an American Chinatown. OK, it’s not as big as the ones in New York, San Francisco or Seattle but has essentially the same stuff; authentic restaurants,dojos, food stores and shops selling everything from crap to high end objects d’art and jewelry. Chicago’s Chinatown
Grey Towers was the summer home of Gifford Pinchot. Among other things Pinchot was the first Chief of the United States Forest Service from 1905 until his firing in 1910, and was the 28th Governor of Pennsylvania. The splendid grounds and views from Grey Towers are free to the public but there is a small charge for a tour of the interior of the mansion. It is in Milford Pennsylvania and beautiful and a tribute to his work in environmental conservation. See more scenic views and buy prints at my commercial site.

We met this guy on the road in California years ago on our way to Las Vegas. He spent his time following different bands around the country and was at a rest stop going to a Moe concert. I always wondered about people who basically spent their lives doing this. Do they work? How to they afford to have this lifestyle? In any case his camper van did not have room for another sticker. The famous film director Robert Altman was once asked why all of his movies had at least one murder. He said, and I paraphrase, “…you don’t have to too much of a plot if you have at least one murder scene.” So here it is once again, my 8 minute epic videograph of Europe and make sure you wait for the murder scene! Earlier this week I published a post entitled “One for The Ladies”. It received a lot of likes and views. A former student and Facebook friend accused me of holding out in jest but it made me look through some recent files for another similar sort of image. So here is one from a bicycle parade in Paris a couple of years ago. What a smile he gave to Hinda! You can buy a print of this one and see others on my commercial gallery.

Horses are a popular theme in the modern cultural history of Milan. Maybe it’s because of the story of Leonardo’s horse. Leonardo’s horse is a sculpture that was commissioned of Leonardo da Vinci in 1482 by Duke of Milan but never completed. The late Charles C. Dent of Allentown, Pa. – a retired commercial airline pilot dedicated the final 17 years of his life to bring The Horse to life. While Charles C. Dent passed away in 1994 his organization continued and completed the statue in 1999. The statue stands as a symbol of goodwill between the American people and the people of Italy. I don’t know the background of this sculpture which is adjacent to Il Duomo but can’t help but think that in some way it is related to Leonardo”s Horse. One of the ways you stay married for 42 years is to have open,honest and continuous conversations with your spouse. As a photographer I am lucky since my wife was and still is my best model and when shooting my wing woman. I love taking photojournalist and candid pictures of people and my wife is always pointing out the pretty woman and in turn I always alert her to the studly men. I took this one for her in a park in Milan Italy and want to share it with my female fans. You can see other images at my photojournalist gallery.
One for the Ladies
The Cathedral Santa Maria Nascente is the seat of the Archbishop of Milan and is commonly known as Il Duomo. However, Il Duomo is used also in reference to other Cathedrals in Italy, the most famous being the one in Florence. Although you are not allowed to take Photographs inside, I managed to take a couple of shots before being discouraged. It is certainly a magnificent Cathedral and the largest in Europe outside of the Vatican. It took six centuries to build, just imagine that kind of commitment.
