Mountain Wetlands

Maple Swamp located in the Delaware National Forest of Pennsylvania is labeled a swamp on the maps. However, people who live in or near swamps prefer to cal them wetlands . In all four seasons they look different. I think they provide beautiful scenes in the autumn.

Zane Grey House

Most people think of Zane Grey as a man of the west. However when he took up writing full time and gave up his dental career in 1905 he moved to a house at the confluence of the Lackawaxen and Delaware rivers in Pennsylvania. He wrote a lot of his novels there before moving his family to California in 1918.

Today his a house is a beautifully maintained museum near a great spot to view Bald Eagles on the Delaware river.

Down by the River

We took a walk down by the Delaware River the other day. We were near Milford PA at Airport Park in Matamoras. We found these beautiful wild rudbeckia or wild daisy growing right next to the water. You can see other images and buy prints and apparel at my commercial gallery.

The Bridge at Dingman’s Ferry

There are a number of ways to find my house in the Pocono Mountains but the most scenic way is to cross the wooden bridge over the Delaware at Dingman’s Ferry. This bridge is relatively unchanged for over 112 years. It is picturesque and the speed limit is 15 MPH (strictly enforced) but worth the trip. Actual people collect the $1 toll. You can see other autumn views by clicking here.
