Wolfen

Our first dog Ace, was the subject of many photographic firsts for me since he was our dog when I started to work in Photography. The best known image of Ace was in a number of gallery showings and subject of an earlier post. The is my first attempt at doing a pan zoom action shot with a tripod and still a favorite and named after the movie of the same name. You can buy a print of this one and see others at my commercial gallery.

The Grateful Dead 1973

In 1974 I bought my first telephoto lens. It was a Vivitar 135mm lens and actually not very good so later in the year I bought a Nikon 200mm lens. It was good enough however to take this picture of The Grateful Dead at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena in 1973. You can see other concert images on my commercial site by clicking here.

Carole at Rolling Rock 1976

In scanning my old negatives I found this one of Carole in 1976. Together we assembled quite a portfolio during two different sessions. This one was taken in front of blooming roses at Rolling Rock in 1976. You can see others from my models portfolio by clicking here.

Early Tulips

Spring happens later in the mountains. At 1700 feet above sea level, tulips don’t really bloom until Mothers Day. These are the first tulips of the year in our pocono mountain garden. See other images of spring and buy prints at my commercial gallery.

Day Lilly

Yesterday I was mulching our garden and staging it for our open house this weekend. We have three gardens in our Pocono Mountain home. I don’t know if potential buyers realize the significance of having any garden in a terrain this rough. When we bought this house it was new and hardscaped, not landscaped. I personally moved four tons of top soil into the gardens and after ten years of mulching and composting it actually looks pretty good. I wish the day lilies were open this weekend because they are magnificent but potential buyers should like the blooming daffodils, tulips and periwinkle. You can see other floral images or buy a print of this one at my commercial gallery.

Palm Canyon

Outside of Palm Springs California is a park called Indian Canyons. There are a number of trails but the most popular is the Palm Canyon trail which is 15 miles long. A natural spring creates a swath of palms and other greenery in the rough rock canyon and desert terrain. You can see other images from the California desert like Joshua Tree at my commercial gallery.

Sunset over Rancho Mirage

The Palm Springs area in southern California is a favorite oasis for people needing some time in the warm desert without giving up the luxuries of an urban environment. There are great restaurants, shopping and other creature comforts coupled with beautiful desert canyons, luxurious swimming pools and 5 star golf courses. Almost every night there are dramatic sunsets and even in the summer, the air is dry and clear. Buy a print of this one and see other images at my commercial gallery.
