Bienvenue A Paris!

Point a camera in Paris and you have no idea what will pop up in front of your lens. After a lovely dinner at a French Cafe, while composing an image for my new book, this young fellow stuck his face in my camera and yelled “Bienvenue A Paris!” trying to startle me. Instead of reacting I clicked the shutter and quickly took three pictures of him causing us both to laugh, ahh Paris. You can buy a print of this image at my commercial gallery by clicking here.

Giverny Kiss

What Better place than Monet’s famous water garden to steal a kiss? The mood of the place is romantic to its core. The famous house and wonderful gardens are like stepping in to a Monet Painting. Giverny is located near Vernon, France which is about one and half hours from Paris and worth the trip. You can buy a print of this image at my commercial gallery by clicking here.

Director of Photography (DP)

Michael Gornick was the director of Photography on Dawn of the Dead (1978). He was patient and soft spoken, talents that were needed with a large cast of inexperienced extras. This image was originally published in Pittsburgh Magazine in 1978 and shows Michael Gornick filming David Emge. You can buy a print of this image on my commercial gallery by clicking here.

Worth Street

Worth Street in Palm Beach Florida is a world class shopping mecca like Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles. Lined with Palm Trees, expensive boutiques, great restaurants and airplanes overhead. This unique view was created in a darkroom, not with photoshop. Buy a print of this image at my commercial site by clicking here.

Rockette Morton

One reader pointed out to me that I had misspelled the name of Rockette Morton on my T-Shirt, indeed I had, much to my dismay. Just as bad, I had flopped the image and made him left handed! Well everybody needs and editor, so I stuffed my pride and made the corrections. Here is the new T-Shirt which you can buy at my online store by clicking here.

Jethro Tull

Ian Anderson is currently touring again. He is without a doubt the best rock and roll flutist ever and a great songwriter and singer. I am sure his new show is wonderful and worth seeing but don’t think it can match Jethro Tull playing “As Thick as A Brick” in 1973. This shot was taken at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena. A Day in the Life

It occurred to me that the life of a film director is filled with extreme highs and lows. I didn’t realize until working on a film set that these could come within seconds of each other. It takes a special person to be able to handle this kind of stress. These images of George Romero were taken within seconds of each other on the set of Dawn of the Dead in 1978.

Prelude to a Kiss

There is that moment, before two people kiss when you commit to the fact that it is inevitable. Henri Cartier-Bresson created the concept of the the decisive moment. To capture such a moment is the essence of Photojournalism. I like to think that he would have appreciated this image. You can buy a print of this image at my commercial gallery by clicking here.

Zappa and Jean Luc

Jean Luc Ponty is a musical genius and has played with both Return to Forever and Frank Zappa. So when Return to Forever and Zappa Plays Zappa were at the Beacon Theater it was natural that Jean Luc came on stage to play a tune before playing the entire set with Stanley Clarke and Chick Corea. You can buy a t-shirt of Jean Luc on my commercial site by clicking here.
