Sometimes the best views at sunrise are before the sun actually rises. This was shot right before a sunrise in Atlantic City. The beach at Atlantic City for a long time has been considered one of the best beaches on the East Coast. I remember going there as a teen and was just amazed at how wide the beach was and the fine white texture of the sand.
The city has gone through a lot of changes since my youth. However, the beach has been a constant and now thanks to conservationists will continue to be so. After Hurricane Sandy they planted all these beach grasses. These will help to hold the dunes in place and protect the beach from erosion. Way to go New Jersey!
I am going to be posting images that I may have posted before with a candidate # thereby collecting a list of what I feel would be likely candidates to print for a gallery show of new images of only digital photography. This image was taken at sunrise on the Atlantic City Boardwalk near the now defunct Revel Hotel and Casino. Please feel free to leave comments if you agree or disagree about including them in a “best of” list.
I am going to be posting images that I may have posted before with a candidate # thereby collecting a list of what I feel would be likely candidates to print for a gallery show of my Photojournalism. I am only selecting from images taken in the 21st Century and not including any older analog photography. This was taken at the Steel Pier in Atlantic City. I can see these two like myself riding the Wild Mouse when we were young. Please feel free to leave comments if you agree or disagree about including them in a “best of” list.
Atlantic City is fun at dawn. Most people are sleeping or still desperately gambling. You may see a runner or bike rider or someone out for a walk, but even in Summer the beach and boardwalk are relatively deserted. The morning is reserved for fisherman and gulls and an ocassional photographer like myself.
This sits atop the Revel Resort in Atlantic City. I know it changes color at night. A security guard told me that on Halloween it is a giant eye and that at Christmas it is a wreath. It looks like a giant golf ball to me. I put the giant gull in there just for fun, it is not a giant gull. If anyone knows what it is, please let me know!
Labor Day weekend usually signifies the end of Summer. Once again, the kids are back in school and traffic and schedules for everyone become more rigid because of it. Even if you don’t have children, you don’t want to get caught behind “the late bus” climbing up the mountain on a two lane road. So here is a video highlighting some fun we had this Summer. Okay, so when I get up at 5:15 a.m. and run outside to take pictures of the sun rise without any coffee, I am not necessarily thinking too clearly. As I set up to wait for the sunrise I looked behind me and saw Vladimir Putin jogging up the boardwalk. I turned back to the sunrise. What!! I turned back and the guy was still far away. I didn’t notice any secret service or KGB and realized it was not Putin but just a jogger.
