If someone would have told me there was a windmill in the center of Paris, I would have doubted them. Silly me because as we climbed the hill on Montmartre, there it was. A Windmill in Paris
I first learned about Beguines when I began to travel to Belgium in the early the late 1980’s. My only previous reference point was my father singing Cole Porter’s “Begin the Beguine” when I was a kid. The Beguines were a religious order of the Catholic Church that focused on healing the sick and wounded. In 1776, the City of Bruges dedicated a new “Beguine House” and Chapel near the town center. It is beautiful, quiet and pristine place to visit while touring the city. Many Americans are drawn to the entry gate since the dedication date is also the date of our nation’s birth. A Paris Night Kiss
Point a camera in Paris and you have no idea what will pop up in front of your lens. After a lovely dinner at a French Cafe, while composing an image for my new book, this young fellow stuck his face in my camera and yelled “Bienvenue A Paris!” trying to startle me. What Better place than Monet’s famous water garden to steal a kiss? The mood of the place is romantic to its core. The famous house and wonderful gardens are like stepping in to a Monet Painting. Worth Street in Palm Beach Florida is a world class shopping mecca like Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles. Lined with Palm Trees, expensive boutiques,great restaurants and airplanes overhead. There is that moment, before two people kiss when you commit to the fact that it is inevitable. Henri Cartier-Bresson created the concept of the the decisive moment. Closed For Lunch
This doorway once led to the inner secure part of Bruges Belgium. The town centre was fortified with walls and on the other side of this door was the original home of the Beguines, a religious order dedicated to helping the sick and injured. The Beguines were relocated to a different part of the town in the 1700’s. The area is now used for low cost hosting for the elderly.
