Autumn at Grey Towers

Autumn is a great time of year at Grey Towers in Milford Pennsylvania. On October 27 they have a cemetery walk and readings of Edgar Allen Poe inside the old mansion. Milford also hosts the Black Bear Film Festival in October from October 18 through October 20 so this is a great time of year to visit the mountains and see great Autumn views and some wonderful offbeat films.

Summer Sunday in Paris

Paris is like any other major city, things slow down on Sunday. In the summer people have a lot of Parks to choose from in Paris. Parc Monceau,Jardin des Tuileries and Jardin du Palais Royal are some of the better known spots. However, my favorite is the Jardin du Luxembourg adjacent to Luxembourg Palace which is the center of the French Government. It is very large with many different spaces and you can see lovers kissing, joggers jogging and some of the most beautiful gardens in the world. This image sums up Sunday in Paris to me. The Kiss

I published the middle image from this series a couple of years ago and it is a candidate for my work in progress, “Just a Kiss”. However, yesterday while reviewing images I noticed the sequence for the first time. The three pictures were taken in sequence over one minute. In the first the young lady seems to want to have nothing to do with this guy, the image says no..no..NO! The middle is the kiss and the final image, well they both seemed to like it. Texting on the Emerald Sea

Maybe they were calling for help because they were scared of the algae filled water? Maybe they were texting each other? Maybe the male was looking up instructions on how to row a boat? Whatever the reason they didn’t seem to be paying attention to each other which is what a romantic row boat ride in New York’s Central Park is all about. The Lake at Central Park

The Lake at Central Park on the West Side of Manhattan is the second largest body of water in the park after the reservoir. You can rent row boats if you are so driven or rent bikes to ride around the park. If you live in the city nothing is more fun on a summer Sunday than being in the park, if you live in the mountains where I live, it’s no big whoop. New York’s Central Park

I was in Central Park with family for a walk on Sunday Afternoon. I only had only lens, no tripod and had to keep up with my group. I wanted to take a picture of Central Park that captured the feeling of the place to me which was in constant movement. Bike riders, walkers, dogs, old people, young people; they were are there and all in motion. I set the exposure for 1/30th of a second and tried to hold it steady as I took a single step and stopped. This is the result and thanks to my canine friend, it works. You can see others and buy a print of this one on my commercial gallery.

Central Park Sunday

Great cities have great parks. Of course New Yorkers will insist that Central Park is “the best” in the world and maybe it is. New Yorkers also say it is the largest city park but it’s not even the largest in the United States. It is special however and it’s central location makes it very accessible to people living in Manhattan and of course, tourists. The human tapestry is just as much fun as the natural setting. Here are some images from last Sunday in New York. To see more photojournalism and buy prints and apparel visit my commercial gallery.

Hey New York, Get Some Fish!

Last Sunday in New York City was beautiful. Perfect weather, hard bodies running, families a strolling and dogs a playing provided a perfect human tapestry of relaxed summer fun. Well, perfect until you got to the lakes. In some areas where people were rowing boats the water was green,OK green but STILL water, I don’t know what this is. This is the end of one pond near Belvedere Castle. This photo is not augmented at all and is actually the way it looked. Boat rental anyone? Yes they were lined up to rent a boat to row through this muck. I have heard that the more catfish you have the less algae you have. Everyone who has ever had an aquarium knows this. C’mon Mayor Bloomberg spring for some fish! You can see other images and buy prints and apparel at my commercial gallery.

She’s a Brick House!

She’s a brick—-house
Mighty mighty, just lettin’ it all hang out.

I almost walked right by this old house along the Palm Canyon Trail in Indian Canyons of the Palm Desert. The house is almost the same color as the stone that surrounds it and blends right in. In order to get the house to stand out for this photo I needed to apply some masking, color and contrast adjustments in post production. Although empty now, you can imagine Native Americans living here centuries ago. You can buy a print of this one and see others at my commercial gallery.

Dance in the Park

At the base of Iao Needle Park in Maui is a beautiful International Garden we vist almost every time we are on Maui. The park is great and led these young men in to the spirit of the dance. You can buy a print of this on my commercial gallery and see other images by clicking here.
