Paris from the Pompidou Center

The Pompidou Center is one of the greatest modern art museums in the world. If you manage to get all the way to the top you will also see one of the great views of Paris. It is worth the ride up the giant escalators listening to the drumscape provided my Mickey Hart just to see the view. Of course the top floor has some great exhibits too. Revel in the Pool

The pool and Spa area at the Revel Resort in Atlantic City New Jersey are world class. This is the outdoor pool in the Winter but it is heated so you can swim out into the cold air and then back inside to steamy warmth. The Spa has coed whirlpools and salt rooms and great steam,sauna and jacuzzis in the club house. The spa treatments we had were first class in everyday. The Bridge at Dingman’s Ferry

There are a number of ways to find my house in the Pocono Mountains but the most scenic way is to cross the wooden bridge over the Delaware at Dingman’s Ferry. This bridge is relatively unchanged for over 112 years. It is picturesque and the speed limit is 15 MPH (strictly enforced) but worth the trip. Actual people collect the $1 toll. Pennsylvania Wetlands

Wetlands is the new politically correct word for a swamp. Just sounds better doesn’t it? Wetlands in Pennsylvania are homes to bears, snakes and migratory birds and a valuable water source. Let’s Have a Big Hand for Lake Como!

If you drive to Lake Como or take a Bus or Boat you might miss this great scene. This is the side of a sculpture you see as descending the stairs from the Lake Como Train Station. It is called the Monumento ai Caduti per Servicio and dedicated to disabled service people. It was created by Francesco Somaini and is actually a sculpture of two hands but from this angle it looks like the City is waving hello. Millions of people visit the Eiffel Tower each year and going to the top is a rite of passage and offers one of the most famous view of Paris France. However, if you want to SEE the Eiffel Tower don’t cross the river. It is so large that the best place to view the tower is across the river on the famous Trocadéro Plaza. It is also a great spot to watch the sunset with the tower in front of the sun. Thousands come to the plaza each night just to see the sunset. If you get there early enough you can enjoy dinner from one of the many great cafes that offer views of the tower. You can buy a print of this image at my gallery by clicking here.

Scofield House–Sturgeon Bay

We had never really spent any time in Wisconsin so we left our daughter’s house in Chicago and headed north for a couple of days. We walked along the beach of Lake Michigan, chased seagulls, had a picnic lunch and headed north to Sturgeon Bay. This lovely little town is reminiscent of New England and for Chicagoans it is like their “Maine”. We stayed at a wonderful Bed and Breakfast, The Scofield House, which was filled with beautiful antique furniture and comfortable modern amenities. We were greeted with home made cookies and Breakfast was enough to last until dinner. We highly recommend it. See more scenic views on my commercial site by clicking here.

Old School Montréal

Québec has two major cities, Québec (City) and Montréal. When we first visited the provence of Québec, we went to Québec city because we wanted to see old French Canada. We then traveled to Montréal specifically to see the Jazz festival and we stayed in a modern high rise hotel. To our surprise, Montréal also has a wonderful old city which rivals Québec in history and European flavor. A Windmill in Paris

If someone would have told me there was a windmill in the center of Paris, I would have doubted them. Silly me because as we climbed the hill on Montmartre, there it was. Larger than life and looking more French than Dutch. It is right behind the Moulin Cafe and near the Basilica. You can buy a print of this image of my commercial site by clicking here.
