Why is there a banana on top of the lifeguard station? Was it rescued form the surf? It is a good luck symbol? I guess I will never know but baking in the sun like that I am sure it wasn’t anything I would eat! See other images and buy prints at my commercial site.

Ouch!
I have always been amazed with women and their love of shoes. As a former fashion photographer, I understand the importance of heels and the way they shape a woman’s leg. I understand wearing them out to a cocktail party or for special occasions but to walk on the boardwalk? I think this woman was especially asking for trouble. Yes the Atlantic City Boardwalk is one of the best constructed boardwalks in the world, but her heel is too skinny and things that can get caught usually do. Although I watched her for a while and seemed to have few problems. You can see other images and buy prints at my commercial gallery.
Chicago Bound!
Going to Chicago on Tuesday to see my Daughter and family and I am sure I will take some pictures. We are going to see the White Sox for sure, so probably some baseball pictures. Anyhow here are some images from the last trip. See my Chicago Gallery by clicking here.
The Ageless Pier
The Steel Pier has withstood many a challenge over the years including storm after storm that have attempted to destroy it. There are no more “Famous Diving Horses” which have been replaced at one end of the pier by helicopter rides and the Darwin Awards favorite, “The Slingshot” but the pier lives on and seems almost ageless. No matter your age, if you are in Atlantic City you gotta check out the pier! You can see other images and buy prints at my commercial gallery.
Revel Reflections
The North End of the Atlantic City Boardwalk was for years not the highest rent district. All that has changed with the Revel Resort. This glass architectural beauty has a giant globe on top that is programmable. It normally looks like a large golf ball but they can change the color. One of the security guards told me on Halloween it was a giant eye like the eye of Sauron. I don’t know if I believe him It also has a world class spa by Bask, fantastic restaurants and is a smoke free environment including outdoor areas except for a small area of the casino. Morning Jog
This is the current end of the Boardwalk in Atlantic City just beyond the Revel Resort. The Boardwalk is one of the best walking/running experiences a person can have. It is even and flat and not made of concrete and it goes on for miles. Your knees don’t hurt when you are done like they might after concrete. Thos was take moments after sunrise. Boardwalk Bike Ride
When you get up to take pictures of a sunrise you typically don’t see too many people. Of course as I passed the casino at Revel there were still people gambling and the hotel security people were posted at their stations trying to stay awake. On the boardwalk there was only this bike rider and me enjoying the morning spectacular. You can buy a print of this image at my commercial gallery.
Chicago Mounties?
I never did get an answer as to who are these people? I took this picture years ago near Michigan Ave and the Water Tower. I have never seen them since. I don’t think they are mounted police and there wasn’t anything special going on in the city when we were there for the Print Show at McCormick place. So who are these people and why are they dressed like colonial soldiers? If you want to see other images from my Chicago gallery , click here.
Chinatown Chicago?
Most visitors think of Chicago as an ethnic melting pot. A stew of irish,Italian, hispanic,Russian,Polish and Chinese? Really? Chinese? There is a large ethnic Chinese neighborhood in Chicago located on the South Side, centered on Cermak and Wentworth Avenues, and is an example of an American Chinatown. OK, it’s not as big as the ones in New York, San Francisco or Seattle but has essentially the same stuff; authentic restaurants, dojos, food stores and shops selling everything from crap to high end objects d’art and jewelry.
