Mayan Ruins

This is the Royal “Box” on the Ball Field at Chichen Itsa. The culture was advanced enough to have sporting contests that were a cross between Quiddich and soccer. Of course there was no witchcraft but archeologists know that players were beheaded but it is unclear if it was the winners of losers.

Tow Job

Maybe when I was younger I would have tried this. Now you couldn’t pay me enough to do it. In addition to these kind of tow by boat gliding experiences you can also see real parasailers floating high in the clouds with the birds.

Sunset at the Blue Deck Cancun

Along the side of the Las Islas Shopping Center in Cancun is a strip of bars and cafes that face the setting sun. This sunset was taken from the famous Blue Deck during two for one happy hour and they make great and strong rum drinks.

Last Years Buck

Yesterday’s post reminded me of this one from last year. This guy was a little bigger and more majestic than yesterday’s post. I only hunt deer with a camera, but understand the need for hunting to control the herd.Deer are kind of smart since there is no hunting in our community we see our deer population soar during hunting season only to spread out during the rest of the year. I don’t know how they understand to hide here. You can buy a print of this image and see others at my gallery by cclicking here.

Eight Point Buck

Young Buck

We live in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania bordering the Delaware State Forrest . There is no hunting in our community but there is just outside and we can frequently hear shotgun and rifle shots. My wife says I am wrong but it seems to me at this time of year there are more deer visible inside our community. Have they “learned” to high out here this time of year? Is it instinct or learned behavior? In any case it is not legal to hunt a Buck this young in Pennsylvania. You can purchase an image by clicking here

End of Season

My season as a baseball spectator pretty much ended last night with the Pittsburgh Pirate’s loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. I have always loved Baseball even though at age 8 I was thoroughly humiliated in Little league when I took the field at 3rd base standing on the wrong side! I got better though and played Outfield and 1st base and occasional a relief catcher. My big moment came in hitting a three run home run over a fence just like this one.

Summer Fun

Labor Day weekend usually signifies the end of Summer. Once again, the kids are back in school and traffic and schedules for everyone become more rigid because of it. Even if you don’t have children, you don’t want to get caught behind “the late bus” climbing up the mountain on a two lane road. So here is a video highlighting some fun we had this Summer. A Night at the Ball Park

When I went to see the Pirates play in Pittsburgh, I only had my 50mm- 300mm zoom lens so I was unable to take the “definitive scenic shot” of PNC park. I did get a few shots that provide a little bit of the feel of being in this wonderful baseball park. I grew up with Forbes Field and hated it when the Pirates didn’t have their own field and had to share with the Steelers. This ballpark provides the same kind of feel that Forbes Field except of course with more modern conveniences and better food. See more images and buy prints and apparel at my commercial site.

Don’t Wanna Discuss it!

I said earlier this week that a Photographer had to give themselves permission to observe people. My wife said this shot was intruding and, yes it is but it honestly captures a moment of human expression. As a photojournalist your image should capture a decisive moment, a human expression or a moment of action. That is the way Henri Cartier Bresson teaches and who can argue with that?

Face of Chicago-2

Earlier this week I published Face of Chicago-1 and felt I had a few other shots to share from my recent visit to the Windy City. I will have to go through the archives because I am sure I have enough from previous trips to create a short photo essay. So here are a few more from the most recent trip, none are for sale but you can see others and buy apparel and prints on my commercial site.
