My book has been available for about one year now and sales have been underwhelming which is kind of understandable for a personal publication like this. In any case it is still on Amazon, “A Hundred Places I Went To Before I Died” (ISBN/EAN13: 1475261535 / 9781475261530.) and available for $25 with free shipping. To get your copy, click here.

Diamond Head
I was very unimpressed with Honolulu and Waikiki Beach. Maybe it is because I visited Kauai and Maui many times before ever spending any time on Oahu except for the airport. Maybe it was because I thought Miami had better beaches. Maybe it was because Honolulu reminded me of Miami. Maybe it was because of all the street hustlers and the crowded beaches. In any case the one thing I did like was Diamond Head. It was a great place to hike and quiet and serene compared to noisy Waikiki beach. Playing at the Beach
Whenever we travel on vacation we miss our dog so we tend to glom on to other peoples dogs. These two were playing on the beach at Kaanapali beach in Maui near a Maui Family Sunday Picnic. Making friends with the dogs got us invited to the picnic. Got to love the friendliness of the Hawaiian people. You can see other animal images at my Animals and Flowers Gallery by clicking here.
Dance in the Park
At the base of Iao Needle Park in Maui is a beautiful International Garden we vist almost every time we are on Maui. The park is great and led these young men in to the spirit of the dance. You can buy a print of this on my commercial gallery and see other images by clicking here.
The Chicago El
Although natives might complain about it, the Chicago Transit Authority runs the best metro rail service in the United States. Yes I know DC has a good one but it is a fraction of the size compared to Chicago. Chicago lines are usually on time, relatively clean, free of graffiti and also still moderately priced. This is a picture of an elevated train running parallel to the Chicago River. You can buy a print of this one and see other images on my commercial site by clicking here.
San Antonio River Walk
San Antonio has a unique attraction that you wouldn’t expect to find in a Texas city. Let’s face it, most rivers in Texas don’t have a lot of water. I lived in Dallas for three years and never saw water in the Trinity river. However San Antonio is different and through the center of the city runs the San Antonio river and the San Antonio River Walk is a public park complete with Gondola tours, water taxis and scenic restaurants and shops along the banks. Not to be missed if you are there on business or pleasure. See this image and others in my book, A Hundred Places I Went to Before I died.
Pecos National Historic Park
Americans visiting Europe will talk about how much they like exploring the old culture of Europe. Europeans coming to the USA visit New York, Boston, San Francisco and Chicago and talk about how young our culture is. I wonder how many Europeans come to the United States and visit our ancient culture which is the Native American culture of the Southwestern United States. The Pecos National Historic Park in New Mexico is one of these places of ancient American culture that dates back to before the birth of Christ and a true wonder. It is only a short drive from Santa Fe New Mexico and should not be missed if planning a visit to that area. This is a photograph of one of the ancient ruins and you can purchase a print on my commercial gallery by clicking here.
Seal Island Revisited
Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of my first year in the blogosphere and this is the final post of celebrating my first week by revisiting my first posts. Tomorrow i will repost my very first blog and then it’s on to new stuff!
There is a scenic drive in California that is not to be missed It is called 17-Mile Drive and is a scenic road through Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach on the Monterey Peninsula. There are many scenic views along the drive like the Lone Cypress and the Famous pebble Beach Golf Course. There is a small island off shore that is called Seal island which was one of the highlights for me because I love seeing wildlife in a natural environment. Absecon Light
Absecon is a city within Atlantic City New Jersey. This is not as unusual as it may seem. Beverly Hills,Burbank and Paradise Nevada are just a few of the many cities within cities. It was first incorporated in 1862 as a New Jersey town. The lighthouse is older than the town and was first lit in 1857. It is the third tallest lighthouse in the United States and beautifully maintained. You can buy a print of this image and see others at my commercial gallery by clicking here.
Atlantic City Sunrise–Christmas 2012
Most people think you are nuts if you tell them you are going to Atlantic City for Christmas. Not too crazy for a non-Christian though. The Revel Resort offered a fantastic Ocean Front room, great restaurants, a world class spa and what better place to see a Sunrise than Atlantic City? You can buy a print of this one at my commercial site by clicking here.
