Before the game, I spoke “Pirate” to a barkeep outside the stadium and ordered grog for a mere pittance of what it cost inside the stadium. Of course the barkeep was a Pirate with eye-patch,bandana and parrot on his shoulder. I have of course seen the Presidents run in Washington and the Sausages run in Milwaukee on television but was totally surprised by the Perogies and thought about the days of “Babushka Power” You can see other images and buy prints and apparel at my commercial site.

The Face of Chicago #1
There is no better place to observe people than at the baseball park. Each park has it’s unique character and feel from the building and from the people who attend. You can tell that U.S. Cellular Field exhibits the soul of Chicago. I have never been to Wrigley so I can’t compare the two ballparks. The people at The Cell remind me of “my people”, the fans I grew up with at Forbes Field as a youth. The drink beer, eat Kielbasa and love their team. These two look to me like pure Chicago. Hey Beer Man!
In Chicago’s U.S. Cellular Field (The Cell) they sell a lot of encased meats…brats, polish, hot dogs etc. On Independence Day they even offered 99 Cent Hot Dogs. However, nothing compares with the sales of Beer. There were more beer vendors than any other sort of vendor and each had their own unique style and distinctive yell. I am sure this guy is very nice but he looks a little crazed, eh? See other images and buy prints at my commercial gallery.
Beer,vendor,Chicago CellulA Passing Moment
To be a good photographer you must give yourself permission to observe the world around you. In my world this includes people which means you have to give yourself permission to be a little bit of a voyeur. Some can’t do that and limit their work to flowers or vistas and there is nothing wrong with that. Being a photographer is about setting limits. One friend looked at my work for “Just a Kiss” and said that I was shameless and really had big cohones. This made me glow, what a compliment for a street photographer. I like to photograph the little moments of life, a hug, a kiss, a passing moment. You can buy a print of this image at my commercial gallery.
The Great Pirate Hope
Andrew Stefan McCutchen has helped to provide hope to all fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates who haven’t had a winning season for too long to remember. In my lifetime I have seen the Pirates win three world series and each team was so different. The underdogs of 1960 relied on “Babushka Power” to win and 1970 and 1979 winners seem to be “Family”. But this guy has caused a rebuilding and the current version seems to be more about Parrots,Pirates and Cutthroats me matey so take care. To see more images and buy apparel and prints click here.

Last year we saw the Oakland Athletics beat the Chicago Whitesox at U.S. Cellular Field. Of course we were rooting for Chicago with our daughter and boyfriend who are Chicagoans. Last Monday we saw the Athletics beat our beloved Pittsburgh Pirates. I am never going to any A’s games again…ever! Of course it was fun just being at PNC Park. Before the game I had my beer served to me by a Pirate wearing an eyepatch and bandanna. Our conversation was entirely in Pirate! Yarrgh!

New White Sox Fan
I went to U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago on Independence Day to see the White Sox beat Baltimore on Adam Dunn’s walk off home run. OH what a great game when you get to see your team hit a walk off home run! However, as usual the crowd was almost as entertaining as the game itself. A gorgeous young mother protects the littlest of fans from the summer sun. Buy prints and see other images by clicking here.
Not Putin Around
Okay, so when I get up at 5:15 a.m. and run outside to take pictures of the sun rise without any coffee, I am not necessarily thinking too clearly. As I set up to wait for the sunrise I looked behind me and saw Vladimir Putin jogging up the boardwalk. I turned back to the sunrise. What!! I turned back and the guy was still far away. I didn’t notice any secret service or KGB and realized it was not Putin but just a jogger.

Stay Back 200 Feet!
OK, this is the most stupid sign I have seen in a while. I mean c’mon man we don’t need a sign to tell us where the ocean is. Put up a 20 foot long burger or something; what a waste of ad space. And while I am ranting, this is for you Donald Trump, “Your hotels are dumps!” You couldn’t pay enough to stay at Dump Taj Mahal, god what a slash at India. Surf Banana!
Why is there a banana on top of the lifeguard station? Was it rescued form the surf? It is a good luck symbol? I guess I will never know but baking in the sun like that I am sure it wasn’t anything I would eat! See other images and buy prints at my commercial site.
