My Virtual Vacation Day 3—Holland

We had hoped in retirement to travel the world. So far we have done a pretty good job with trips to Mexico, Hawaii, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain and The Czech Republic. However the pandemic has stopped all of that for a while. So while waiting for Africa, Alaska and Scandinavia, our current travel is going to have to be virtual. Today’s stop is The Nederland or Holland as Americans call it.

Summer Sunday at Jardin du Luxembourg

I miss traveling so I have been been looking through old files for summertime images. This was taken in Paris at the Jardin du Luxembourg in 2009. Every time I visit Paris we go to this garden. Paris is like any other major city, things slow down on Sunday. In the summer people have a lot of Parks to choose from in Paris. Parc Monceau,Jardin des Tuileries and Jardin du Palais Royal are some of the better known spots. However, my favorite is the Jardin du Luxembourg adjacent to Luxembourg Palace which is the center of the French Government. It is very large with many different spaces and you can see lovers kissing, joggers jogging and some of the most beautiful gardens in the world.

It’s Summer and Time for Escapist Fiction

Pittsburgh’s Jake Webber and Rose Youngblood provide some excellent escapist fiction as they battle evil across parallel worlds. While Jake and Rose are jaunting through dimensions, Detective Janet Pizzutti tries to figure out a mystery at the site of the Greenfield Bridge implosion. The stories intertwine making for a fun adventure to help you escape Covid 19 and turmoil in the streets.

Another Unpublished Dawn of The Dead Image

Every now and then I come across one that I haven’t published in Zombie Nights. I never published this image because Richard P. Rubinstein is in the frame. Richard is very militant about protecting his copyright and rightfully so. I am also militant about protecting mine. He tried years ago to get me not publish my images thinking I must have been an extra in the movie. I was however an invited journalist and I own the copyright of all my images including this one. Out of respect for him though, I never published or shared this image until now.

Dawn of The Dead

Unpublished Dawn of Dead Image

Every now and then I come across one that I haven’t published in Zombie Nights. I don’t know why I left this one out. It was taken in the early morning. Most of the zombies had been sitting around doing little as shots were set up. I like the expression on the face of the female zombie. Boredom, anger, exhaustion or maybe it was confusion wondering WTF I was doing?

Regent Square Slowly Begins Phase Green

We decided to walk down Braddock Avenue yesterday since we were on a dog vacation. Normally on a beautiful Sunday morning Braddock avenue is packed with people eating outside with their dogs and we avoid potential conflict. Most stores were still closed including the popular Square Cafe. However D’s Six Pack, our famous beer and hot dog establishment had a few tables outside as did El Burro. The Three Rivers Outdoor Company and a couple of other stores were also open for business but foot traffic was very light.

It will take time for people to feel confident and for me I will not be venturing out to any restaurants any time soon yet it felt good to see people enjoying the great weather.

Jeanie Brown Boshoven on Dawn of The Dead Set

Every now and then I come across one that I haven’t published. I know why I left this one out. It is a little out of focus and the overall contrast is degraded too much to publish. Even so I know fans would like to see it so here it is. Such a captivating woman it is clear why she is a fan favorite.

Thanks to All That Serve

I realize that wars are necessary sometimes. However it now seems that we are engaged in forever wars and the military industrial complex prefers to have conditions of permanent warfare, something I do not support. However the people that do battle for our country deserve nothing less that our full support and respect.Today we are in a different kind of war against a virus and the soliders in this war are no lesser heroes than those who do battle over seas.

Memorial Day is a day when we pay tribute to all that went to battle on our behalf. Thanks for your service and to the families that have lost loved ones, thanks for your sacrifice.
