Paris is like any other major city, things slow down on Sunday. In the summer people have a lot of Parks to choose from in Paris. Parc Monceau,Jardin des Tuileries and Jardin du Palais Royal are some of the better known spots. However, my favorite is the Jardin du Luxembourg adjacent to Luxembourg Palace which is the center of the French Government. It is very large with many different spaces and you can see lovers kissing, joggers jogging and some of the most beautiful gardens in the world. This image sums up Sunday in Paris to me. The Old Fashion Way
I have published a few images that were created with “old school” image manipulation. My most popular is an old award winner called Row for Your Life. I studied the technique of Jerry Uelsmann and after a number of failures made these in my darkroom using the dodging and burning techniques perfected by Uelsmann. This one was printed during the same period and I scanned an old somewhat faded print to create the digital image. The pelican was shot in Lake Worth Florida, the beach is Cape Hatteras.

Morning Gull
Atlantic City is fun at dawn. Most people are sleeping or still desperately gambling. You may see a runner or bike rider or someone out for a walk, but even in Summer the beach and boardwalk are relatively deserted. The morning is reserved for fisherman and gulls and an ocassional photographer like myself.

Wild Daisy
We love gardening, especially my wife who is a persistent weeder. However, we both also like finding wildflowers. We are lucky in Pennsylvania where we have many varieties of rudbeckia, day lilies and cosmos that bloom in the woods, along the streams and besides the highways. These wild daisies were growing near the banks of the Delaware river in the woods and spot lit by the summer sun. To see more images and buy prints and apparel, please visit my commercial gallery.
Down by the River
We took a walk down by the Delaware River the other day. We were near Milford PA at Airport Park in Matamoras. We found these beautiful wild rudbeckia or wild daisy growing right next to the water. You can see other images and buy prints and apparel at my commercial gallery.
Windows on the River
Continuing with this weeks pattern theme, I am sharing another view of window patterns on the Chicago River. This pattern almost seems to spell out a hidden message. You can see other images and buy prints and apparel at my commercial site.
Natural Patterns
This week I am posting images of patterns. The thing that I like about this one is that there are two vines fighting each other for real estate. The idea of vines on brick buildings looks better than it is in reality. Vines will eventually destroy the bricks and while they are working on the bricks they attract insects and birds which might not be appreciated by an apartment tenant. The Sun King Pattern
Focusing on patterns this week made me think of this image. It is a gate at Versailles in France and the magnificent “logo” of Louis XIV the Sun King. You can see other images from europe and buy prints and apparel at my commercial gallery.
Patterns
This weeks theme will be patterns. Photographers, including myself, are fascinated with patterns. I think that is because, unlike painters, we deal with physically moving our position and the position of our tools (tripod, lens, etc.)to compose an image. Of course there are patterns in everything, but this weeks images will focus on images that I like primarily because of their repetitive patterns. This one was taken along the Chicago river on the Architectural tour. You can see other images and buy prints of this one at my commercial gallery.
Summer Fun
Labor Day weekend usually signifies the end of Summer. Once again, the kids are back in school and traffic and schedules for everyone become more rigid because of it. Even if you don’t have children, you don’t want to get caught behind “the late bus” climbing up the mountain on a two lane road. So here is a video highlighting some fun we had this Summer.
