Cancún Kiss

As many of you know, I have been working on a new Photography Book, Just a Kiss. This is a collection of images featuring people kissing in public places. This is the newest image and was taken on the Blu Deck in Cancún Mexico against the setting sun.

Stop the World!

I used this image as the cover of my first book Stop the World!. One of my ex photography students said it made her feel voyeuristic to see this. I took that as a compliment. I believe Henri Cartier-Bresson would like this image after all it was a decisive moment.

The Kiss

I published the middle image from this series a couple of years ago and it is a candidate for my work in progress, “Just a Kiss”. However, yesterday while reviewing images I noticed the sequence for the first time. The three pictures were taken in sequence over one minute. In the first the young lady seems to want to have nothing to do with this guy, the image says no..no..NO! The middle is the kiss and the final image, well they both seemed to like it. A Passing Moment

To be a good photographer you must give yourself permission to observe the world around you. In my world this includes people which means you have to give yourself permission to be a little bit of a voyeur. Some can’t do that and limit their work to flowers or vistas and there is nothing wrong with that. Being a photographer is about setting limits. One friend looked at my work for “Just a Kiss” and said that I was shameless and really had big cohones. This made me glow, what a compliment for a street photographer. I like to photograph the little moments of life, a hug, a kiss, a passing moment. You can buy a print of this image at my commercial gallery.

Not Putin Around

Okay, so when I get up at 5:15 a.m. and run outside to take pictures of the sun rise without any coffee, I am not necessarily thinking too clearly. As I set up to wait for the sunrise I looked behind me and saw Vladimir Putin jogging up the boardwalk. I turned back to the sunrise. What!! I turned back and the guy was still far away. I didn’t notice any secret service or KGB and realized it was not Putin but just a jogger.

Morning Jog

This is the current end of the Boardwalk in Atlantic City just beyond the Revel Resort. The Boardwalk is one of the best walking/running experiences a person can have. It is even and flat and not made of concrete and it goes on for miles. Your knees don’t hurt when you are done like they might after concrete. Thos was take moments after sunrise. Sticker Man

We met this guy on the road in California years ago on our way to Las Vegas. He spent his time following different bands around the country and was at a rest stop going to a Moe concert. I always wondered about people who basically spent their lives doing this. Do they work? How to they afford to have this lifestyle? In any case his camper van did not have room for another sticker. Another One for the Ladies

Earlier this week I published a post entitled “One for The Ladies”. It received a lot of likes and views. A former student and Facebook friend accused me of holding out in jest but it made me look through some recent files for another similar sort of image. So here is one from a bicycle parade in Paris a couple of years ago. What a smile he gave to Hinda! You can buy a print of this one and see others on my commercial gallery.

Wish I was There!

I hate the winter. I am not a winter sports enthusiast. Today I will have to put on long underwear just to be able to walk my dog in 4 degree weather. My mustache will ice up. My dog will start to whimper after a while because of the salt on the roads and the cold. I would much rather be in Maui today watching this guy doing his thing, snorkeling, swimming and watching a beautiful sunset while eating fish that was caught the same day. Sigh.
