Ian Anderson is currently touring again. He is without a doubt the best rock and roll flutist ever and a great songwriter and singer. I am sure his new show is wonderful and worth seeing but don’t think it can match Jethro Tull playing “As Thick as A Brick” in 1973. This shot was taken at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena. It occurred to me that the life of a film director is filled with extreme highs and lows. I didn’t realize until working on a film set that these could come within seconds of each other. It takes a special person to be able to handle this kind of stress. These images of George Romero were taken within seconds of each other on the set of Dawn of the Dead in 1978.

Maui is a magic place. We have been there four times and will go back. On our first trip we discovered there was a lot more to the island than snorkeling and the wonderful beaches. Our first time there we discovered Iao Valley Sate Park. We tend to stop there each trip. There are miles of walkways, numerous waterfalls and the jungle covered mountain called Iao’s Needle. There is that moment, before two people kiss when you commit to the fact that it is inevitable. Henri Cartier-Bresson created the concept of the the decisive moment. Prelude to a Kiss
Listening to the Captain and thought of this concert.
This past year, Don Van Vilet passed on. In 1973 I took this picture from the stage wings right before I was thrown out. It was easier to get on the stage back then but I had no credentials and eventually someone ratted me out. The Band started to play and the Captain was standing next to me waiting for his entrance. I looked at him and he nodded at me and then went on stage and launched in to “Crazy Little Thing”. A magic moment with the magic band.
I always thought that terrine was just another name for pâté. I learned through my travels that they are different, but both are delicious. In French or Belgian cuisine, a pâté is baked in a crust as pie. However, if it is baked in baked in a mold it is know as a terrine. This one was from a Parisian cafe and most excellent.
