When you get up to take pictures of a sunrise you typically don’t see too many people. Of course as I passed the casino at Revel there were still people gambling and the hotel security people were posted at their stations trying to stay awake. On the boardwalk there was only this bike rider and me enjoying the morning spectacular. You can buy a print of this image at my commercial gallery.

Recently my wife and I celebrated our 42nd Wedding Anniversary (June 6). Last week my wife retired from her job as a High School French Teacher. I can’t wait to see what the next chapter in our life will be although it will probably begin with the publication of my first novel. We are now editing the novel together. In any case these events require a little celebration so tomorrow we are off to Revel in Atlantic City and have a spa day on Wednesday at the Bask Spa. Why, because we deserve it. Most visitors think of Chicago as an ethnic melting pot. A stew of irish,Italian, hispanic,Russian,Polish and Chinese? Really? Chinese? There is a large ethnic Chinese neighborhood in Chicago located on the South Side, centered on Cermak and Wentworth Avenues, and is an example of an American Chinatown. OK, it’s not as big as the ones in New York, San Francisco or Seattle but has essentially the same stuff; authentic restaurants,dojos, food stores and shops selling everything from crap to high end objects d’art and jewelry. Each year Iris puts on a show and each year there are more and more in the garden so we divide them up and create other Iris pockets. This was taken on a Nikon D3100 with a 50mm-300mm Nikon Lens at 240mm at f11 for 1/160th of a second at an ISO of 400. You can buy a print of this one by clicking here.
Pocono Iris
Grey Towers was the summer home of Gifford Pinchot. Among other things Pinchot was the first Chief of the United States Forest Service from 1905 until his firing in 1910, and was the 28th Governor of Pennsylvania. The splendid grounds and views from Grey Towers are free to the public but there is a small charge for a tour of the interior of the mansion. It is in Milford Pennsylvania and beautiful and a tribute to his work in environmental conservation. See more scenic views and buy prints at my commercial site.

There is a ancient Greek Myth of how the flower Narcissus got it’s name. Zeus basically punished Narcissus for the way he treated the Nymph Echo. However, at death Narcissus uttered words of love for another and Zeus took pity on him and transformed his body into a white flower that would bloom once again, every spring. On a clear summer night there are few cities as beautiful as Paris. Every corner, old building and tree have a story to tell. Paris Summer Night
The famous film director Robert Altman was once asked why all of his movies had at least one murder. He said, and I paraphrase, “…you don’t have to too much of a plot if you have at least one murder scene.” So here it is once again, my 8 minute epic videograph of Europe and make sure you wait for the murder scene! Horses are a popular theme in the modern cultural history of Milan. Maybe it’s because of the story of Leonardo’s horse. Leonardo’s horse is a sculpture that was commissioned of Leonardo da Vinci in 1482 by Duke of Milan but never completed. The late Charles C. Dent of Allentown, Pa. – a retired commercial airline pilot dedicated the final 17 years of his life to bring The Horse to life. While Charles C. Dent passed away in 1994 his organization continued and completed the statue in 1999. The statue stands as a symbol of goodwill between the American people and the people of Italy. I don’t know the background of this sculpture which is adjacent to Il Duomo but can’t help but think that in some way it is related to Leonardo”s Horse. Milan Horses Sculpture
Most people travel to this part of Bavaria to see the famous castle Neuschwanstein and the lesser known Hohenschwangau Palace. Neuschwanstein was built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria who was also known as the Mad King, But what brought Ludwig to Schwangau in the first place? Maybe it was this view which is the view of Schwangau from the Western side of the castle. You can see other images and buy a print of this one at my european gallery.
