Bok Tower

The beautiful tower complete with carillon was built by Pulitzer Prize winning author, Edward W. Bok in 1929. You can stroll the magnificent gardens while listening to classical music on the amazing carillon performed by famous music masters from Belgium, France and the USA.

It is located in Lake Wales Florida and at the highest point in Florida offering great views of the citrus groves surrounding the area. You can even tour Mr. Bok’s house and just imagine living there in the 1930’s

Bromeliad

The Florida Botantical Garden in Largo Florida is a very large garden and nature preserve complete with a heritage village. It has beautiful walkways, plants, animals and best of all it is free. They don’t even charge for parking.

I don’t remember the name of this bromeliad but was struck by the variety of color in the leaves.

On the Road to Hana

Driving the Hana Highway is a once in the lifetime experience, well at least I won’t do it again. I hate driving close to the edge of narrow roads without guard rails but fortunately my wife doesn’t and we got to take this wonderful drive. If you stop to look at every waterfall along the way it will take you all day. If I were to drive it again, I would definitely get a hotel or Inn and not drive back until the next day. Maui has two great drives in addition to this one. The scenic road to Haleakala and Route 340 on the West side which is my personal favorite.

Summer Sunday in Paris

Paris is like any other major city, things slow down on Sunday. In the summer people have a lot of Parks to choose from in Paris. Parc Monceau,Jardin des Tuileries and Jardin du Palais Royal are some of the better known spots. However, my favorite is the Jardin du Luxembourg adjacent to Luxembourg Palace which is the center of the French Government. It is very large with many different spaces and you can see lovers kissing, joggers jogging and some of the most beautiful gardens in the world. This image sums up Sunday in Paris to me. You can buy a print of this image by clicking here.

Summer Fun

Labor Day weekend usually signifies the end of Summer. Once again, the kids are back in school and traffic and schedules for everyone become more rigid because of it. Even if you don’t have children, you don’t want to get caught behind “the late bus” climbing up the mountain on a two lane road. So here is a video highlighting some fun we had this Summer. Giverny Geraniums

Some people think that all flowers are created equally. I mean why should a tulip that is located in Holland be any better than a tulip in my garden? A geranium is a geranium right? Well maybe so but these geraniums were growing in Monet’s water garden in Giverny near Vernon France so to me, they are special not because of the flower but because of the background. This is not available for sale because I didn’t have a tripod and had to compromise on the exposure settings and this was hand held at ISO 400 f5.6 for 1/80th of a second. You can see other works of nature and buy prints at my commercial gallery.

Early Tulips

Spring happens later in the mountains. At 1700 feet above sea level, tulips don’t really bloom until Mothers Day. These are the first tulips of the year in our pocono mountain garden. See other images of spring and buy prints at my commercial gallery.
