The Kiss

I published the middle image from this series a couple of years ago and it is a candidate for my work in progress, “Just a Kiss”. However, yesterday while reviewing images I noticed the sequence for the first time. The three pictures were taken in sequence over one minute. In the first the young lady seems to want to have nothing to do with this guy, the image says no..no..NO! The middle is the kiss and the final image, well they both seemed to like it. The Ivy School of Professional Art Reunion

From 1975 through 1978 I was employed by the Ivy School of Professional Art in Pittsburgh PA as a Photographic Instructor. With the help of students and staff we constructed darkrooms and studios. I was fortunate to have some great students who turned out to be successful photographers and illustrators and most of them also turned into great people. Our field trips were legendary. Thanks to social media we have reunited and the Facebook group now has over 170 members. This weekend a lot of them will meet for an annual reunion, which unfortunately I can’t attend.

Some of my students have not survived though like the stunning Becky Richardson who was kind enough to model for the class on one of our field trips to an old barn. Rest in Peace Becky, I am sure you will be well remembered this weekend. You can see other images and purchase prints and apparel at my commercial site. This image is not for sale.

My Favorite Model

I have had a wonderful life so far and over the years photographed a lot of people. However, my favorite model has always been my wonderful bride. This year we celebrate our 42nd year of marriage and we are still happy and in love. Isn’t that the way it is supposed to work? This is her in the early 1970’s near Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Brera at Night

A great place to dine in Milan is in the Brera which is one of the arts districts in the City. It was not far from our hotel and i asked the Concierge if it was safe to walk and he assured me it was. We had a lovely dinner and walking back we saw this young coed walking by herself through the streets and realized it surely must be safe. Park Kiss

What causes a couple to suddenly kiss? The warm sun, a beautiful sunny day, the joy of being alive or is it something sexual. As I work on my new book, I am finding out that people kiss for a variety of reasons and most of them unrelated to their loins. Sure passionate kisses are part of romance but people kiss as a form of greeting or when saying goodbye. People hug and kiss to express joy and to console people in moments of sadness. I think however, that this kiss in a Paris garden was more related to the loins. You can buy a copy of this image and see other kisses by clicking here.

Ewwww!

I love the art of street photography. I think I like it because if you do it right, the photographer is only recording and not impacting the emotion or action of a scene. Ever since I learned about the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle I felt an obligation as a photographer to minimize the observer effect when shoot on the street. This was taken while waiting for my family while they were shopping in Chicago. Had the young lady seen me, I doubt if she would have reacted so strongly to the Wicked Advertisement.
