What is This Thing?
This sits atop the Revel Resort in Atlantic City. I know it changes color at night. A security guard told me that on Halloween it is a giant eye and that at Christmas it is a wreath. It looks like a giant golf ball to me. I put the giant gull in there just for fun, it is not a giant gull. If anyone knows what it is, please let me know!

This lady looks like she might rip the liver out of your body and feed it to her son, however this is just the practiced intensity of a Steelers Fan. On this day about 8,000 Steelers Fans were at Latrobe to watch the team in training camp. It was very humid, very warm and had just rained. It didn’t seem to bother the fans or the football team. Wild Daisy
We love gardening, especially my wife who is a persistent weeder. However, we both also like finding wildflowers. We are lucky in Pennsylvania where we have many varieties of rudbeckia, day lilies and cosmos that bloom in the woods, along the streams and besides the highways. L’shanah Tovah: Portuguese Synagogue
Tonight is the beginning of one of the most sacred holidays in Judaism: Rosh Hashanah. I can’t help but wonder what services would look like in the beautiful Portuguese Synagogue in Amsterdam.
Amsterdam is known for its Red Light District, Canals, Coffee Shops and Museums. Nestled in this backdrop is one of the great Synagogues of the world. It was built by Spanish Jews escaping the Spanish Inquisition. Since Holland and Spain were at war with one another, those escaping persecution said they were Portuguese to gain entry in to the country. Many Synagogues in Europe today restrict access due to persistent anti-Semitic feelings. However the Portuguese Synagogue is open for visitors for a small fee. You can also attend services on Friday or Saturday without paying a fee. The entire Synagogue is lit by candles and there is an excellent Judaica store where you can buy beautiful souvenirs and find out about the history of the building.L’shanah Tovah (Happy New Year!)
